A gem of a site

Although this was only 35 minutes from our home, we explored an area of Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire unfamiliar to us and what a treat! The site has views across to East Midlands Airport but is completely open with an abundance of wild life. We saw hares, and a small herd of deer galloped to within 30 metres of our van. It is next to a working arable farm and a farriers so there were comings and goings of horses immediately behind us but nothing to cause disturbance. The walks from the site are numerous. We walked through the fields to the pub at Stanton le Dale, looking through gaps in the hedge to discover a vista of Nottingham the first evening; walked for coffee at the Cow Shed and then on to Dale Abbey which is a lovely little village on the Saturday and on Sunday we drove to Ockbrook (but it is walking distance) where there is another deli/coffee shop, an interesting Moravian Settlement and plenty of walks from there. In fact there are footpaths everywhere. The owner is most welcoming, keeps his site immaculate and we can't recommend it enough.
