A real revelation!

Having only stayed at club sites previously, I was somewhat trepidatious about staying at a CL for the first time, but I fell in love with this one almost instantly. I was immediately put at ease by Adrian on my arrival, and thrilled by the panoramic view available from the pitches. I've lived and worked in the surrounding areas for nearly three decades, but was oblivious to this brilliant area for walking being on my doorstep the whole time. There are public footpaths aplenty, with one that leads to several others accessible from the site. I have family and friends who live 6 miles away in Nottingham, and my mind is quite made up that I cannot do better than basing myself here whenever I visit them. The easy access to major transport routes is another plus point. I recognise my circumstances are somewhat unusual, and not everyone has the facilities to cope with the absence of a toilet/shower block. Also, I'm travelling solo, which probably also makes compromise easier. That said, I honestly feel like the pros to staying here (scenery, tranquility, excellent free wi-fi, walks, etc.) massively outweigh the cons. And the comings and goings of the horsey folk associated with the adjoining equestrian centre helped offset any sense of isolation I'd anticipated (wrongly as it happens) experiencing at a small CL. Adrian was really helpful during my stay, replying to all of the enquiries I made in a timely fashion. To be honest, I'm only sharing with you what an unexpected treat I found my stay here to be because I've already made multiple advance bookings to make sure I can return again soon!

Beautiful site

Visited this lovely site several times, the views are stunning and there's lots of walks on site, this is a real heaven for dog's and walkers with footpaths to Stanton by Dale with its 2 pubs with food on offer, also the Cow shed is just down the road for refreshments when out on a walk, we enjoyed most of the time sitting watching the wildlife, binoculars are a must, the owners are very helpful and if you have any needs are only too happy to help, I would recommend the site , it's a real beauty.

Lovely views

After driving down a very bumpy farm lane we arrived in the CL field which had lovely far reaching views. We never saw the owner and had to go looking for someone to pay. Also we could not find the chemical disposal and had to ask a fellow caravanner who knew the site. A notice in the field with these details would have been helpful. A lovely area with many walks from the site and interesting places to visit. We will definitely visit again.

Lovely spot- shame about the owner!

We have stayed here twice now, the first time we were reasonably happy with the site, lovely views and close to the M1 junction. However our second visit will be our last. The lady owner asked us to park near the entrance in case we needed pulling out but didn't mention there was no electric hook up point nearby. The water was switched off in the field and the only water supply was adjacent to the stable block clearly marked not for consumption! Despite a lot of people tending their horses, the owners could not be located, and so we very carefully parked near to a hook up point and set up. Only to be disturbed later on by a very rude owner furious that we had supposedly dug up his grass and not parked where we were told, he was disgusted that he only earned a pittance from the CL site, and he would not listen to reason. He totally ruined the first night of our Christmas break, his lack of attention to health and safety should be a warning to any prospective visitors. We were left under no illusion that the CL was a nuisance to him and very much secondary to his other ventures. I would not recommend this site at all.
