Following 28 days at Start Bay Caravan Club Site, we booked a further few days at Old Stone Farm after a wizz-by on our travels to check suitability. The CL was already up to capacity but a small adjacent area for 3 caravans was offered and was very acceptable. In fact the pitch was a bit nearer the water and waste! Farmer brothers were very friendly and enjoyed a chat, as were the other caravanners. Well, 3 days turned into 5 and then into 10 days, we just didn't want to go home and the weather had also turned beautiful. The pitch required levelling blocks but nothing more than a bit of raising of the jockey wheel and front steadies - blocks of wood were found nearby for this purpose. The grass is kept in pristine condition, cut short and cuttings collected. Drainage is good. Access is easy from the main road from Totnes to Dartmouth and all the South Hams is easy to access. Dartmouth and Kingsbridge about 10 minutes away. Beaches and cliff paths are about 20 - 30 minutes or so driving. The site overlooks a valley with fields of grazing cows and is peaceful and very quiet. Dog walking is a treat and you are welcome to walk across the adjacent fields. Well worth the £9 nightly fee. We'll be back!
A local week end away
