Well organised
We visited the site whilst completing the Southern Upland Way which passes within a few hundred metres of the site. Easy access off the A76 through the farm onto the site which is dead flat. Welcomed on arrival by a chap from Durham who helps the owner and maintains the site meticulously. Although close to the main A road and railway line which carries coal waggons, the site was peaceful and local services were within walking distance, with buses stopping at the end of the farm track.
I must admit I would never have though as Sanquhar as a place to stop but I was pleasantly surprised - lovely countryside around, a castle and lovely river bank. National Cycle network nearby and good walking. Certainly worth a visit!
