A SUNNY FEW DAYS

We very much agree with all the previous reviews. We used our motorhome each of the three days we were there so as to visit places further afield, and found access in and out of the CL gateway very easy. A great little place.

A peaceful winter break

A Lovely well keep site with welcoming freindly owners. We were really enjoying our stay until an unexpected illness changed our plans. Maureen & Colin did every thing they could to help, Our thanks to them. Hope to visit again soon.  Melanie & Derek

Unexpected oasis

The site was easy to find and to get to and is at the end of a very beautiful village.  The owners were very friendly and welcoming and helpful on local information. We were amazed to sit and watch a kingfisher sitting above the stream that runs behind the site from the caravan - excellent, close-up and surprisingly it stayed static for quite a while to give us time to take some photographs. The locals were very friendly and happy to chat to strangers, which often doesn't happen when you are out and about in the caravan. The village shop was very good and reasonably priced.  There are 2 pubs who do food within a very short walking distance of the site, the Queens Head did a lovely meal but quite pricey.  We didn't get to eat at the Black Horse but it's been recently taken on by new managers and looked very much worth a visit, especially as it was only about 100 yards from the site. Excellent walks from the site and Fotheringhay Church is worth a visit. Whilst the traffic was quite noticable on the Friday rush-hour, it was quiet on the Saturday and Sunday. We will definitely visit again, many thanks Colin and Maureen for a lovely site and relaxing stay.

History on your Door Step

We can highly recommend this site. Very warm and helpful reception. Site maintained to a very high standard. Lots of lovely walk. Places to visit : 2miles away Fotheringhay a small village full of history. Birth place of Richard III and Mary Queen of Scots beheaded. The church is open daily well worth a visit (Lots of info from the Richard III society) A small market town Oundle 5 miles away Co-Op Store and mixture of small shops. Street market on a Thursday.

It's been too long

We have been here a number times but not for three years and we realise it's been too long. The owners, Mr and Mrs Dolby are lovely and helpful but not intrusive. They keep the site very neat, tidy, and nicely mown.  There is a little noise from the road, but thats a small price to pay for such a great little site. With walks, cycle rides and the steam train to Peterborough, two pubs , shop and post office plus an excellent butchers in the village we spent five days here and didn't feel the need to use the car at all! We won't wait another three years before returning.

Nene Way? Yes way!

Every now and again whilst out in the caravan you will have a perfect break where everything goes according to plan and the Sun decides to shine upon you. We have had just such a break at the Nene way CL and it has been one of the best bank holiday breaks we have ever had. Located at the South end of the village this CL is perfectly kept with well maintained short cut grassed pitches. In the far corner shielded by fencing and conifers is located the chemical waste disposal, recycling bins, drinking water and a small information hut. Each pitch has a digital TV output so if you want to watch TV then remember to bring a long coaxial lead with you as TV reception is terrible. The owners are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Being sited next to the road there is some road noise during the day but it never bothered us and during the night nothing was heard at all. LocalPlacesOfInterest is everything for us and this was perfect, we never used the car after we arrived and each day we set out on a walk from the door of our caravan, sheer bliss! The village itself was idyllic and served by two pubs, the “Black horse” which is literally just around the corner but it’s well worth an extra 5 min walk to the” Queens head” which has an amazing beer garden backing onto the river Nene. Now and again we say that we will return to a CL, sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t, but we certainly will be visiting this site again especially as it’s less than an hour’s drive for us. Do we recommend this CL? No definitely not, keep away at all costs, you will hate it, go find another one ;-)

Lovely site

We have just visited this adult only site in our motorhome for 2 nights, and had the most lovely time there. There is plenty to do around and about, we walked along the Nene Way footpath, which is right outside the site and biked a 27 mile circular route which took in the lovely villages of Kings Cliffe and Apethorpe. It's in a great 'stop off' position, being only only 2 miles off the A1. There are 2 pubs and a village shop just a short walk from the site, but there is slight road noise during the usual commute times, which is the only reason for not giving it a 100% 5 stars for all aspects of the CL. The owners were very friendly & helpful, and keep this CL in tip-top condition - a definite one to return to and highly recommended.
