We agree with the other reviewers comments. The owner made us very welcome without being intrusive. We liked the pricing structure, the only extras seemed to be for fishing or if you chose to use an electric blown air heater in your awning.
The owner has installed a number of hard standing pitches with grass adjacent which are not shown in the picture of the site. The pitch we were on was well drained and gave fantastic views over the valley and adjacent fields.
It is a farm and there were geese in an adjacent enclosure, however they are very quiet at night. Chickens and ducks roam the site during the day. They're entertaining to watch but be warned, they are very efficient at emptying any wild bird feeders that you may put out.
We did not try the nearby bus route nor any of the local walks but did visit the Wedgwood centre a few miles away as well as the moorland towns of Cheadle and Ashbourne. Ilam Park (National Trust) and Alton Towers are not far away either but we will save those for a future visit.
A very enjoyable short break. We plan to return.
lovely CL
I stayed on site for 5 nights while away for work, I arrived late on Sunday due to bad traffic but i was made to feel welcome and paid the following day. I arrived in the dark but finding the site was no problem and with hard standing I set up and easily. I had a lovely week, the toilet and shower where basic but a lovely shower was had every day which makes staying away for work easier and nothing was too much trouble.
