Ease of arrival/welcome

Not the peace we were expecting

We were really looking forward to staying on this site and some peace as lots of other reviews stated but in reality its about 100 yards from a very busy A road., The CL is actually in a grass area in the driveway of the farm and whilst there are some hard standing and grass pitches and it was well kept it felt like we were pitched in someones drive. We do not feel it would be suitable for children as all the cars for the other two sites come through this CL and there is no barrier or gate to stop them running out to the road. We were not met on arrival and other than when we paid we did not meet the owners and hey did not enquire if we were OK at any point. We were left wondering where we were meant to go as there is are also another site but when we looked to pitch there the other pitch left was next to a cow/sheep shed which did not smell great at all. We were just relieved it was winter and we were inside the van as you would not get much peace sitting outside in the summer. The site is well located for Stratford upon Avon and the surrounding areas but you cannot walk anywhere from here although the leaflet says you can walk to the village but not in winter as the large meadow you need to walk thought is waterlogged and full of sheep mess. On our last night there were 6 caravans/motorhomes on the CL.

As the land owner, I was saddened  and dismayed to read that this visitor's stay did not come up to their expectations.  On very rare occasions we do have to leave the property unattended because we are a working farm and we do have other commitments.  I think the reviewer will bear out that there is a directional sign on entering the property which directs you over to the house porch.  On the rare occasions that we cannot be there, we leave an "A" Board with a named Welcome leaflet on it for each visitor with directions as to where to park, how everything works, local shops, walks, etc together with mobile telephone numbers that enable the visitor to contact us immediately, if necessary.  The reviewer clearly acknowledges that he had the leaflet but we take on board our omission in not making ourselves known to him the minute we returned and we will endeavour to undertake this with each and everyone of our visitors , should it ever occur in the future.

With regard to the walk to the village, this is a working farm as clearly stated in our description and  the route follows a  public footpath which runs across an open stretch of farmland, where there can be livestock.  As with all excursions into the countryside you have to be prepared for walking conditions to sometimes be a little challenging particularly if the area has experienced particularly heavy rainfall.  It is a meadow and the water is draining through the soil structure towards the river.  However,  most people put on their walking shoes and this  slight inconvenience is well compensated for by the riverside scenery and the prospect of accessing our delightful village.

With regard to the six outfits on site on the one night, one of our visitors who last year came regularly each month to visit his aged sister in this area, and who was booked in from the following night, was called in an emergency by the hospital to attend his sister and facing this dilemma we parked him on the "early arrivals and late departures site" to accommodate his very urgent needs.  We can do no more than offer the reviewer another opportunity to visit us, "Free of charge" to show goodwill and in the hope that his next visit  will be very much more to his satisfaction.
