Terrific CL
Booking was straightforward, efficient simple which resulted in thorough email detailing all needed to facilitate a smooth arrival and pitch. We chose first pitch through gate next to 2 pigs “Phil & Grant” (didn’t actually know they were there till one brief squeal), needed a bit of levelling, and it was the pitch that loses the sun first in evening but probably best outlook with a bit of view of trees and horses in paddocks. Very pleasant green site mainly surrounded by high hedge/trees. The location of this CL is it big bonus as believe lots of places within easy drive, or if like us you use bus as stop is literally outside the main entrance gate with frequent service. We went to Bishop Auckland- excellent bus service. The train station at Newton Aycliffe is walkable too via the delightful Nature Reserve albeit probably a 30 minute one. We also walked to Sheldon via Walkers Lane and onto the cycle track The Locomotion Way which leads you to the free Locomotion railway museum. Well worth a visit and a little cafe. It seems a lot of folk use this CL as a stopover when travelling which can understand. Only really minor disappointment was the two large industrial bins were next to our pitch during our visit so not very nice to sit outside in the vicinity of, plus some very inconsiderate fellow campers slinging glass bottles into bins loudly. This would not stop us recommending and staying again as excellent.
