Middridge Meadows is a haven for wildlife, pure tranquility and fabulous place to stay. We come here regularly because it's a great getaway. The owners are fantastic and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is everything you could wish for. We had a breakdown with the caravan on our last visit and the owners of the site couldn't have done any more to assist us over the period of a weekend. They were fabulous and we cannot thank them enough.
This site is ideal for nature lovers and a quiet peaceful place to be. We thoroughly enjoyed going to say hello to the horses and asked horse owners if they were allowed the occasional sugar lump. The area is pleasant too and the local pub cooks very nice meals at reasonable prices. We can recommend this place and its very easy to find
Found site, approaching from the A1 the entrance is immediately left at the end of the terrace of houses. Gated, combination locked entrance. We pitched facing the horses who were lovely to watch. Pool table in the Information Hut is a master stroke! Have only given 3 for ease of arrival/welcome as we didn't see anyone to pay and left our site fees in the box as instructed. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would return.
pleasant experience from beginning to end. got all information by email. then booking and got the gate lock number. Clear instructions them made for an easy arrival. found the gate set back from road but with a long caravan had part stinking out onto road till unlocked gate. Field was well kept, surrounded by countryside and horses. 10 minute walk to the local pub which served good food dog walking is good. We did not the owners. contact numbers were clearly displayed at the information hut and on the booking details we were given. Should we be staying in the area again we would not hesitate in staying at this CL.
Just got back from a 10 night stay at this peaceful site. If approaching from the A1 south, when in Middridge, do not follow sat nav directions, it will take you down Walkers Lane, which is a dead end. 2 very nice men regularly have to help vans turn round. After Walkers Lane the site is very soon on the right hand side. This popular site was full every night with people using it as a stop over from Scotland. Did not see the owners, so the pitch fee is left in an envelope in a box in the information hut. It rained a lot but the site drained well with beautiful sunsets. This site is very central for visiting lots of places. Kimberley caravans is not very far for all caravanning needs.
We were given the combination lock number for the access gate when we booked. There are signs advertising the CL prior to the sites entrance, whoever the gate is set back from the main road. You drive down the path passed the livery stables open a gate and there is the site. Each pitch is spacious, hardstaning with EHU. The chemical point and bins are behind the information cabin. The information cabin has a vast amount of information regarding places of interest and also has a pool table. There is a pleasant pub approximately 5 mins walk (turn left at the entrance gate), there are plenty of places that you can walk your dog. We would recommend this site and will be returning.
This was only our second trip in the caravan and this CL was a pleasant experience from beginning to end.
We got a quick response to our email request for information and then booking. Clear instructions them made for an easy arrival. Field was well kept, surrounded by countryside and extremely quiet - which we like. Only things we saw were two other vans and horses!
10 minute walk to the local pub which served good food. A public footpath into the countyside is signposted from Middridge Village for dog walking. Tesco 5 minute drive away (where this is a local town with a decent supply of shops). Easy access to main roads to visit the wider area.
We did not see the owners (not a problem for us) but their contact numbers were clearly displayed on the gates, at the information hut and on the booking details we were given.
Should we be staying in the area again we would not hesitate in staying at this CL.
Thoroughly enjoyable week - it went too quickly!
Lovely quiet CL - all hard standing, though worth pitching forwards in to maximise the sun in the evening.
The info hut houses a free pool table and book/DVD library.
Good TESCO in nearby Newton Aycliffe and the Bay Horse in Middridge is a worthwhile walk for a pint and meal.
Durham a 15 minute drive to Park and Ride. Awesome - £2 per person all day.
We shall return!
My wife and I stayed on the site for five days in October 2013. The site is very quiet, well kept and the site hut/playroom has lots of information about places in the area that is worth a visit. We stayed on this site as it is very near Newton Aycliffe where our grand daughter and great grand daughter who is only a few weeks old live and we could visit. The only point is you must take care when you get near the site as if you take the wrong turning you will have a hard job to turn round as the lane is a dead end and is very narrow, the entrance to the site is near the houses which are on the main road.
