We have never visited this area before, needed somewhere to stay for our visit to Tatton park. We were so pleased on arrival to see what a lovely place this was. We had a very nice welcome from the owners, who showed us where everything was. The site was nice manicured field. Plenty of animals to see.
And very nice off road walks round the farm. It was very peaceful place. As it was so hot, we didn’t go out every day,and enjoyed our surrounding. Their were eggs to buy on site. And plenty of fields of wild flower fields. We would love to visit their again.
As the title says this CL is tucked away in countryside about 3-4 miles north of Congleton. The route in as specified in the S.D. should be followed as it's easy to find if you do. Otherwise you can approach from the A535 from Holmes Chapel or Chelford and pick up the route in from Lower Withington. The entrance is wide enough for all units and the lane is quiet generally.
It is a large spacious C.L. with grass and hardstanding pitches (which are near to the farm buildings. Not a lot else one can say as the Elsan point, water and electric are all to hand.
The only downside depends on what you want to do when on the C.L. When we stayed 2 other units were using it to visit relatives or have them visit the site and they found it perfectly situated, some others just wanted to chill out after such a long period of lockdown but we wanted to get stuck into serious walking, for which we had to travel a bit of a distance but anyone seriously wanting quiet lanes to cycle in would be catered for. It would suit anyone wishing to visit Jodrell Bank, about 5 minutes drive away.
Shopping provisions catered for in Congleton.
Owners very pleasant and we found nothing to complain about at all. They did request Bank Transfer for funds so best checking if you don't want to do that.
We picked this site as it was only a few miles from our friends and we are glad we did, it's a lovely site.
The pitches are well spaced out, you don't feel you are on top of your neighbour.
The farm was quiet and we were welcome to see the goats and Alpaca's.
The farm path was excellent for a morning run and at 1.7 mile you can do laps and pick a drink on the way past the van.
There are cycle routes going past the entrance to the farm and they link up with a number of others in the area.
We had a great time and would definitely go back again when visiting our friends.
First thing to say is that it is most important that you follow the directions given in the site handbook and do not use your satnav, or you will have to negotiate some narrow lanes unsuitable for a caravan. We were given a warm welcome by Mr Kennerley and immediately felt at home. The pitches are well-spaced as the field is very spacious, so you won't have any trouble with noisy neighbours. The site is very basic with one water tap sited in a barn, but you don't need any more. A very quiet, rural site situated in the heart of the country. What we really appreciated was that the grass was cut and the clippings taken away, which is not always the case on all certified locations.
I hesitate to praise the site any more, or it will become too popular, but we would certainly stay there again.
This was our 2nd visit to Messuage Farm and we weren't disappointed.
It's in a lovely spot, surrounded by fields and woodland.
We pitched overlooking the pumpkin patch and goat field. Very Autumnal!
It rained a lot while we were there but the grassed pitch we were on was pretty much ok.
The dog walk on the farm is brilliant - either for a quick wee walk or as a start to a longer trip out.
It's not far from where we live so is perfect for a quick getaway for us. We were very pleased to see that The Black Swan pub has re-opened. It's very close to visit - literally across the lane and field.
It also has easy access to local places of interest such as Jodrell Bank. We took the dog up to Macclesfield Forest - about 20 minutes away.
There's a little stall by the lane selling seasonal produce - we had some amazing heritage tomatoes.
We can highly recommend this little gem.
This is an excellent site for what we want to do during a trip away, plenty of places to visit, good traffic free dog walk from the site, and a quiet open flat yet sheltered site. It is quite easily accessed, although the last 0.25ml is along a rather narrow lane. The site itself is a large grass paddock beyond the farm yard but there is also a large hardstanding area with it's own EHUs. The dog walk is a hard track of 1.7mls length around the farm fields, and there is a separate 0.5ml hard path to the nearby pub. There area many places of interest close by, including Biddulph Grange Gardens, Style & Quarry Bank, Alderley Edge and Jodrell Bank. There is both an Aldi and Morrison's at Congleton for the essential provisions, and the farm itself sells goat meat, from it's own herd of goats. The lanes around the area are popular with road cyclist which is an indication of how quiet they are. We enjoyed our stay here last month that we've already booked to return.
Stayed here for quite a few nights in a large 30ft motorhome. The owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. They were very accommodating. As it’s winter we stayed on the hard standing area which is quite large and right next to the grassy bit should the weather improve. Site is down a county lane but not to far to the nearest pub or shops. Overall a very good site for the price and wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Wanted a location suitable for visiting a number of National Trust properties and Messuage Farm seemed a good choice. We were definitely not disappointed. Prior to our arrival it had poured with rain for days and so the spacious hard standing area (not shown on the site photos) was superb. Good basic amenities and the stone path provides a lovely leisurely walk free from traffic to enjoy the countryside and view the goats. Very quiet and peaceful site offering a good enough excuse for a return visit at any time of year.
Just returned home after staying 3 nights at this lovely site.. you have a choice of grass or hard standing. The grass is beautifully kept, lovely and short with no grass cutting sitting on the top. Very peaceful.. a large excellent dog walk which has a flat path around the farm. Had a lovely welcome from the owner on arrival, showing where every thing is. Very easy access onto the park. We will be back.
We keep going so must be good if i dont like a site dont go back.
This site is a dual site has hard standing and grass available so can be used all year round.
great field with big pitches most are flat too.
