Cracking CL well worth visiting
Just back from 5 nights at Marfit Head Farm (Wed 9th - Mon 14th Sept 2020). What a cracking CL it is on a working dairy farm. Access into the site is easy via the wide entrance off the main road (take care going over the Cattle Grid). On arrival we were warmly met by Mrs Hodgson and given a detailed map and list of Covid-19 do's and don'ts.
The pitches are grass (slightly sloped) and of a very generous size with EHU. There are three fields to chose from, the smaller CL field which is adjacent to the main road; the Top Field and the Back Field. We chose the Back Field as the conifer tree's provided a barrier to the road noise - not a complaint, purely an observation as the road is a main 'A' road to/from Whitby and is busy during the day and early evening; the traffic is light at night and didn't cause us any lost sleep.
There is ready access to a number of water points and the Chem Waste point.
The back Field provides lovely views and it was nice watching the families herd of Cows winding their way to/from the Milking Parlour twice a day. There are a number of very tame Chickens who wander freely about the farm and camping fields (one especially is cheeky enough to invite herself into your van if you don't watch out for her).
There's easy access to Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay & Scarborough from the site (NOTE: the site is incorrectly marked on the CAMC Website map - it's actually a mile or so prior to the currently shown location. I've emailed CAMC asking them to amend this). There are also plenty of walks close by (don't miss a walk down into the Hole of Horcum).
Overall a lovely CL in a beautiful part of the country. We will definitely be back in 2021.
