First CL - Great

Just got back from 6 nights on this site, our first CL. Having looked at plenty of CL's previously we think we hit the jackpot here. Others have mentioned the road noise and I have to admit the adjoining road is very busy hence only 3 ticks for peace and tranquility, after a couple of days though the road noise didn't bother us. Pleasant greeting on arrival, the only downside was the adjoining farmer had been spraying his field, the smell was awful and lasted for a couple of days, had it lasted longer I doubt that we would have stayed. We live in a rural area so are used to this happening but it does limit you in a caravan when you can't open a window let alone sit outside. The facilities at the site are excellent, cleaned daily and always spotless which speaks volumes for the owner in view of the fact that you have to walk through a farmyard to get to them. All in all the site was excellent and we will return. The location was ideal for us, plenty of walks nearby and easy access to the coast. We'll be back.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are so pleased you loved the site. We have spoken to the CL owners who want to assure everyone that you don't need to walk through the farmyard to get to the facilities. The toilets and wash block are next to the farmyard and there's no need to walk through the farmyard to get to them. We hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Fab 2 weeks!!

We had a fantastic 2 weeks at this site in July. Made to feel very welcome, loved having the little piglets run round on site, got to see the cows being milked and fed the lambs. The views locally are amazing, with plenty of places to go and beaches to visit. We had some lovely lazy days on site too which meant we really appreciated the large size pitches. People have moaned about the road noise and yes there is some but certainly didnt annoy us and quiet during the night. Great facilities on site and everything is very well kept. Play area and icecream man visiting were well received too. Thank you

A must visit

Just got back from our second visit here. Its fantastic. Views are amazing from both fields on site. Owners are extremley friendly and helpful. Although didn't use shower facilities they were immaculate. Pitches are generous sizes and well maintained throughout. Great for children too. Plenty of run around space for them includng a small play area and they can watch the cows milked. They get an ice cream van come round every afternoon which was a welcome surprise in this heat. Definitley recomend this site. Going back again in August.

Lovely site

This is our second visit, but first on the CL as there are two other sites adjacent to CL. It is large and well maintained with a slight slope. We were on pitch 3 and with hindsight should have parked van furthe over rather than on the pitch number as the slope was greater where we were. Friendly welcome on arrival with full instructions and confirmed use of shared shower facilities (which we didn't use). The only negative is the road noise, which was quite loud at times with motorbikes roaring past, which made it a little uncomfortable to sit out

lovely site

Have just spent 5 nights on this CL site, very well maintained and facilities immaculate, owner very friendly, two other bigger sites on the farm but hardly knew they were there, we would return as we love the area, but we found the traffic noise a bit disturbing if there was a downside this was it.

What a Gem

We came for a quick bank holiday stay, and wanted to stay for the rest of the week. We received a very friendly and helpful welcome on arrival. The club field is enormous, it could be half as big and still huge. Slight slope, but easily managed. Toilets and showers were great, bright and fresh - love the cow toilet seats! The pig, donkeys and goats and hens were a great hit with the kids, and our dogs sort of fell for them as well. Nice little wooded area for the dogs to walk in - might be too small for large active dogs, but plenty of other places to walk them off site. Sturdy play area for children. The only down side if we wanted to nit pick was the traffic noise from the Whitby to Pickering road - I was surprised how much traffic travels that road, however this is one site which we plan on going back to, especially as it is open all year. Big hit with us - we will be back!

Little Gem

Lovely little site and we will be definitely returning in the future.  Toilets (2 blocks ext to each other) spotless, plenty of hot water but really one of the nicest toilet blocks we have ever been to. The kids loved the cow design toilet seats and shower curtains! As this is a working farm there is plenty to see from pigs, cows, hens (strolling past my caravan)  Kids play park is great and kept them well entertained, this is on the members field but I its really not far from each of the other fields We stayed on the members field (5 large pitches) there is additional top field and back field with also hold 20 pitches each field.  The member pitches was slightly sloping but easy managed to get level, the other fields seemed pretty flat also.  Good location to: Dalby forest (5 min drive) Hole of Horcum (2 min drive) Whitby (20 min drive) Think we have found a high top 10 contender! Thanks

VISIT

Just back from our second visit.  Friendly welcome from the owner who advised on details of showers, etc etc. Bit noisy from traffic on the main road but didnt really bother us. Showers and toilets very good.  Would recommend especially for walkers and people wanting to visit the Yorkshire Moors including Pickering and Whitby.

Shame about the weather

Just got back from a visit to the site. On arrival greeted by Mrs Hodgson who was very welcoming and gave a brief about what pitches were available and how to get to them. It has the benefit of a CL but then a rally field behind this, to be honest the field suited us better for access to the loo block and going in and out with the motorhome. Locally there is everything you need 12 mile to Whitby, stopping off at Goathland Levisham or just pop into Pickering all very easy to access from the main road directly out of the site. The field is sloping and blocks would be useful but we managed to cope without and parking at an angle helped out here. The shower block is next to the cowshed, it is a working farm but that said the shower block is exceptionally well kept and deserves a ten out of ten. There are toilets and showers in a unisex block and all are supplied with a towel toiletries and are spotless unless you count the facts about the cows spots which are displayed all about for interest. We had the benefit of the war weekend and information was at hand to help our visit go as well as could be expected, except for the heavy rain most of the night. A great site and facilities that was very peaceful and offered access to beautiful locations well done top marks

Lovely well kept site but noisy from traffic on Whitby road

This is a very well kept site with manicured grass, slightly unlevelled. They provided the cable for the electric hook ups and the owners were very friendly, they provided us with discount vouchers to get us into Dalby forest to mountain bike £4 instead of £7. The shower blocks and toilets were immaculate and well done out, with hand wash, towels, spare toilet rolls, very clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the only downside was the noise from Whitby Road, especially Sunday, it sounded like a race track with the motorbikes racing past. Other than the traffic noise it is a lovely well kept site, great facilities and friendly owners.
