A Golden Goose
If you read back through the reviews you will find repeat visits from members. We are one of them, this being our fifth visit. Although we are using the CL usually en route to a ferry we always stay for 4/5 nights as it's a very pleasant place to stay with lots to interest you in the nearby vicinity. Houghton Mill and a walk from there to St.Ives and maybe back through the Hemingfords or Cambridge via the P&R from St.Ives or a visit to numerous nature reserves like Great Fen at Fen Drayton. There's a local supermarket nearby, Tesco, plus the town itself which has an M&S foodhall and a Sainsbury. St.Ives has a Waitrose.
The site itself is spacious with up to 16 EHU points scattered around. The topography is bumpy but flat bits can be found for pitching. Good spacing generally between pitches. It is 11 amps so beware. Recycling bins and a manageable Elsan. Quite a busy road at the top of the site but quietens at night. Free wifi. Good phone signals. Can be a bit windy at times as it is uphill from Huntingdon. There is an area of hardstanding that could be used in wetter months.
Golden Goose? Well it would appear that the CAMC inspector has suggested that the owner (smashing fellow) increase his prices to £20. Have no idea if he was asked for his advices but I wish he had not proffered an opinion. The owner is more than capable, being a businessman farmer, of deciding his own tariffs. Whatever Mr.Collett decides I daresay we'll be stopping off again should we be in the area.
