An excellent find. Return stay for 2025 already booked!

We’ve just returned from our fortnight stay at Magnolia Pitches CL, Staunton, Gloucestershire. We booked last year after seeing the site recommended , and reading the excellent reviews. The owners Becky and Paul are excellent hosts and they are very hands on and welcoming. £18 per night with electricity on top that is charged at cost. Currently the unit rate of electricity is 23.838p /kWh. Once booked, if there is a change to the price per unit, Becky the owner will email you with an update. There are no shower or toilet facilities. The pitches are reinforced grass and have EHU, water taps and free WiFi. The CL is on a large, well tended and regularly cut grass paddock. There’s plenty of room to exercise your dogs, but they must be on a lead. You can pitch in any direction that suits you. We booked pitch number 3 and it was great for catching some rays. The weather was much better than expected too. There are recycling and waste bins along with the standard black and grey waste disposal points. Becky does have two hard standing pitches as alternatives if you prefer that to grass. They are next to the CL grass paddock. Only five pitches are occupied at one time out of the seven and while we were there, there was availability. It’s important to follow the travel directions and approach the CL from the right way. No issues with turning in to the CL, but if you make the wrong turning in to the lane, you have a greater distance to travel down a single width vehicle lane, than if you turn in to the lane from the other end. There is a fob activated gate at the entrance to the property. There is a local shop and a village hub that used to be a pub, but is now ran by volunteers. They aren’t open all the time, so you will need to check the opening times. They have a bistro ‘van’ on a Friday evening. While we were there we sampled the gourmet burgers. They were excellent. We sat in The Swan’s conservatory to eat along with a couple of beers. The hub is within a slow ten minute walk. There’s parking for those who may have walking difficulties. Staunton is a great place to use as a base to visit local attractions and to pop across the border in to Wales. We are members of EH, NT and HH and can always find something to do. EH members get free access to CADW sites. Castles, Tintern Abby and Chepstow were ticked off our list. Gloucester is a nice place to walk around and the Cathedral is worth a visit. Some Harry Potter and Sherlock scenes were filmed there. We were fortunate enough to get a private tour, quite by accident at Blackfriars Priory in Gloucester. It’s an EH property but is rented out to an events company and is only open on a Sunday if they have the staff. . We had a trip on the Dean Forest heritage railway too. We liked the CL site and area that much, we have booked to go back next year for another fortnight. Scroll down the site webpage for useful links, including an availability diary. https://magnolia-pitches.co.uk/
