Warm welcome by owners and livestock alike!

We have just spent the bank holiday weekend in the most wonderful surroundings. The owners Owen and Adele couldn't have done anymore to make our stay enjoyable. The site was immaculate as to were the shower facilities. Great care and thought into all aspects of the CL experience. They were very welcoming and had great knowledge of cafes and restaurants in the area. We have a camper and Glawning, (bell tent with wood burner and driveaway awning), although they had never seen one before, they were very open to the idea and everyone on site was intrigued by our setup and came over to have a look. What a wonderful attitude to a relatively new idea. We will definitely be revisiting Low Moor very soon.

Peaceful Site

Stopped over at this site en route to Scotland. A very well maintained site - good layout with plenty of space between pitches, hardstanding, easy to access water and electricity points and a clean, well equipped shower room. We enjoyed our stay at the site and were given half a dozen eggs which were much appreciated. The farm animals are very entertaining and not at all noisy! Our only concern was the policy regarding the use of electricity on the site. When we arrived we asked Mrs Taylor about what was required if we exceeded the daily limit on electricity. She told us that, with an Alde central heating system in use, we would exceed the limit - but we weren't told what the limit was, nor how to monitor it, which was all a bit confusing. Although Mrs Taylor said she would monitor our electricity usage, we didn't have a clue how to monitor it ourselves and were concerned that we would run out of electricity in the middle of the night! However the next day, Mr Taylor advised us that there is a meter on the electricity post, so you can see what your usage is. We still couldn't find any indication of what the actual limit is though, so we were none the wiser by the time we left! Fortunately we didn't need to have the heating on too often, but it still was a concern and I found it offputting. It would have been much easier had we been given all the necessary information on arrival. I would recommend therefore that if you are going to this site in winter, you check this with the owners beforehand and pre-purchase extra electricity if required. A lady who was staying in a campervan told us that she was unable to turn the heating up in the shower room as there was a cable tie on the heater which prevented her from doing so! This didn't affect us as we use our own shower in the caravan, but it would put me off going to this site in the colder months. I have been on other sites where a polite request has been made for people to not leave their heating on when they are away from their vans as it racks up the electricity, and I'm more than happy to comply with this.

Outstanding CL

We recently stayed at Low Moor Head Farm for two nights on our way down from Scotland. I can honestly say that in over forty years of caravanning we have never been made so welcome. The site is perfect every pitch is a super pitch. A charming cabin in the field houses a beautifully equipped shower room with full disabled facilities. A small summerhouse is the information room. There is so much to see and do nearby that we will certainly return. If only all CLs were this good.

Snowy week

We’ve just spent a week here on this lovely site, all by ourselves. The day after we arrived it began to snow with the ‘Beast from the East’ and then we had Storm Emma. We were safe and snug in our caravan although the water froze. The site is lovely and spacious, with a good shower/toilet block. There are woods across the road where you can go for a walk but you need wellies at this time of the year. We got out every day down to the shops for supplies, which are about a mile away but didn’t have the opportunity to explore the area much. The snow was so bad that all non essential travel wasn’t advisable and we had everything that we needed in the caravan. The owners popped around to see us bringing eggs and stayed for a chat. They were very busy with their farm animals and especially the sheep that were due to lamb. There are plenty of farm animals around to watch in the fields. We did get out and drove to Gretna Green and Carlisle. Had the weather been ok we would have done much more exploring as it’s an ideal site to get out in all directions. We will have to come again when the weather is warmer.

Frozen to the core

This was our first stay on this site for a long weekend in December. We were greeted to a very warm reception by both Owen & Adele on a very cold winters day. The site is immaculate and the hosts very friendly. We arrived on a very cold Friday, woke to an even colder Saturday morning and everything was frozen solid. Sunday was even colder but didn't deter us at all. We enjoyed two beautiful clear days out in the lakes and in Dumfries & Galloway which are ideally accessible from the site. We packed up on Monday morning to -8 degrees ( -11 during the night) and fully enjoyed our stay. We'll be back in the new year for sure.

Another stay at Low Moor Head Farm

Another stay at Low Moor Head Farm and it is still a beautiful site. It is as ever a fantastic CL. Adele keeps the site in beautiful condition. Each pitch has fresh water and grey waste within a short distance. Every pitch is hardstanding. The toilet and shower is spotless.

Excellent well worth the stay

Excellent site, well worth a visit and more. First time we have stopped and definitely will be back. Television reception great but really don't need it because watching all the animals kept us entertained. The characters of the lambs, ducks, chickens and ponies were brilliant. The site is spacious, well kept spotlessly clean and is a credit to the owners, who are so friendly and welcoming. And you get complimentary eggs on arrival which are very tasty.

Handy for Gretna

Nice little CL in a field by the side of a working farm. Very clean and with a toilet in the shed. However, the road outside is quite noisy. Information shed needs sorting out, because while there was a lot of information in there, it needed a lot of searching to find what you actually needed. handy site for Gretna and the surrounding area

A real gem of a CL

We stayed on this site for 2 weeks in August 2016 and really enjoyed it. The welcome was warm, friendly, helpful and the complimentary eggs were a very nice touch. The first thing that strikes you is how beautifully maintained the site is with nicely mown lawns and very neat access road and hard standings. There is plenty of space between each pitch so you have room to move around and privacy when you want it. Pitches have their own electric and water supply with courtesy lights on the tower so it's easy to find in the dark if necessary. The toilet/shower log cabin is spacious and very clean making them a pleasure to use and they are serviced every day (11:00-12:00). The views of the surrounding countryside are lovely and add to the spacious feel of the site. The town of Longtown is only 1.5 miles away so local shopping and amenities are very handy but if you want a more extensive shop the there is an Asda superstore approx 6 mile away at the M6 junction with cheap fuel on site, but fuel is card payment only. There are lots of places to see and things to do without travelling too far but the Lake District, North Yorksire Dales, Kielder Water are approx 30 - 45 mins away. Gretna Green and Scotland is also right on the doorstep. One of the things which really adhered me to this site was the farm animals that inhabit the field that runs down the side and back of the site. A pair of donkeys and a pair of ponies who appreciate any carrots that might be on offer, sheep, various types of geese, chickens and ducks which patrol the site at their leisure, (and not forgetting the 2 black cats who are fond of being fussed). It really is a beautiful, peaceful, well maintained site which Adele and Owen can be very proud of. We will definitely be returning in the future and thanks to both for a wonderful holiday.
