What a beautiful spot! Came upon this site by chance when visiting Banbury... stayed twice over the space of 4 weeks. Glorious views, quiet and peaceful and so much space! Diana is really helpful and delightful to hold a conversation with, her whippet is a real character! Wonderful walks in every direction! Highly recommended! Bit late posting as this was August last year...
A little bit of heaven - that is how I would describe this CL site. It is steeped in RAF/WW2 history and the owner, Diana is such a lovely lady! We were only stopping for one night to break our journey up and ended up stopping for three! The local area of Shenington is beautiful, though Banbury itself is a very busy retail area.
We walked to the nearest pub - The Bell (lovely food) which is about 1.5 miles away but there is a short cut across the field which Diana will tell you about. The peace and tranquility at this site is something else and the weather in October was amazing - like summer. There was only us in our motorhome and another lovely couple in a caravan there. The apples and pears from the owner’s orchard were gorgeous, as were the eggs that were available for sale. It was so tranquil watching the glider planes above in the clear skies. We enjoyed our stay here very much and we will definitely return!
We have just spent 3 nights at this wonderful, quiet and traditional site.
Masses of space - you would be hard put to feel crowded; huge skies and lots of stars; oodles of local attractions and things to do... The Castle Inn at Edgehill, Banbury town - museum, shopping; Stratford - RSC, riverside gardens and fish and chips; Upton House just along the road...
Brilliant place - thank you
We used this site to break a journey, but it is a great find. The area available to pitch up is massive, you can be a 100 meters from your neighbours. But as we were over nighting we left the car attached and parked in the centre of a WW2 air craft parking space.
Owner was lovely and lived in cottages next to site.
Absolutely fantastic value @ £10 per night
We will definitely return
My Wife and I spent 2 nights here, during a weekend in May 2021.
It's a lovely simple set up, with beautiful views. We wanted some peace, especially at night, as we work hard all week. We slept very well, as there is no road noise or bright lights anywhere. Also, there's plenty of room.
The amenities are all we required. Elsan and water. It's true the water pressure may be low and slow, but, what's the rush ? We weren't in a race.
Diana, the owner, is a super friendly, lovely Lady. Easy going and welcoming, she added to the enjoyment of our stay.
We will definitely be regular guests, as it's fairly local and it's just what we want and like. A lovely spot to rest and enjoy. Thank you, Diana.
We stayed here for three nights in August and despite the inclement weather it really was a lovely stay to stay at.
The site is actually part of the old second world war Edgehill Airfield with the large hardstand area actually being where they used to park the planes. In fact if you look carefully you can find what remains of the old tie-down points.
As usual I've made a video of the site that can describe it much better than I can.

This is undoubtedly one of our favourite CLs down to its stunning views and sheer space. It’s basic and the water tape’s trickle would make filling up a chore if you weren’t otherwise distracted by the girls, a flock of nearby geese, or the infinity view over towards Stratford upon Avon. It’s pot luck on which view you get but there is so much space you will never get anything worse than a good view, and if you are in luck, the best spots are idyllic. The owner is friendly and helpful but does not intrude. An added bonus is when she sells local honey, literally made on site, and apples. For entertainment, there are regular displays of local buzzards, kestrels and kites, deer frolicking or gliders landing on the nearby airfield.
We stayed at Lodge Farm for 4 nights from 24th March , And we enjoyed every second of it
we were there when the clocks went forward and had two glorious spring days .
The views were amazing , and we loved the quiet . Our dog loved being able to go round the large field for a walk. It is also a great place to watch the birds.
And for a £5.00 per night could not have asked for more.
Would stay again and would recommend it.
The best CL's are the ones that don't try to be club sites in miniature. Ive stayed on the sites that are the regional runners up in the "CL of the decade" competition and they are lovely. Lawns cut with nail scissors, beautifully crafted pitch numbers to which you must reverse, borders with (and please help yourself) herbs. The REAL beauty of the CL is the anarchy of parking the caravan at a wonky angle to get the best view... the complete absence of electricity... the charm of the herd-working eccentrics that allow you to park your tin shed in their meadow. I can't quite put my finger on why I liked Lodge Farm so much. It could have been Di who is absolutely charming. It could be because the fiver-a-night tariff appeals to my Yorkshire roots. Or it could be the view westwards to Stratford Upon Avon 15 miles away. Alas it was never clear enough (I was there for Christmas) to watch the sun set... that must be spectacular. The site is on a disused airfield and (although I prefer to park on grass) I chose to stop on the disused helipad this time as the forecast was so poor. Just as well as it rained for 3 days out of 4 and on the 4th day the sky dropped 70mm of snow. Even then the walk to the tap and the disposal was pretty firm under foot. The phone signal on O2 is very good...not quite so good for the 3 network. I didn't bother with a TV. DAB reception was fine. The horses that grazed on the site were quite chatty and the fieldfares were busy in the field during the hours of daylight. All of the surrounding roads seemed to be incredibly wide... as is the gate into the CL. Any issues? Well... the water pressure is a bit low.
