Typical of CL’s Overcharging

It may be in an ideal location while travelling from north to south, but unfortunately this CL is synonymous with other CL’s in overcharging while paying little attention to it’s condition, it’s services and it’s fee paying customers. The cost of £25 plus the additional cost of electricity, by way of a meter is in my opinion excessive. If we compare overnight costs from independent campsites, we have found their services and facilities are far better, will most definitely will not return here.

Saturday night stopover

This is a lovely little site. Very easy to book, arrive and leave. Nice grass and hardstandings. Very peaceful. Has a spotless shower and 2 toilets for use of CL clients only. Will try to come back in the future.

Great Stop Over or Tranquil Stay Over off M6 near Preston

Lovely quiet CL site (apart from fast passing trains nearby, but that didn’t disturb us) The site is close to the M6, between two junctions, just south of Garstang, easy to find. It is good for a stopover or there are things to do for a longer stay eg wal along the canal 250m away or visit the local village and shops, a short walk away. Site has facilities such as lovely clean toilets and a shower. Spotless for a farm, CL setting, not a cobweb or beastie in sight! We were the only van here on 6/6/22, we didn’t meet the site owners. There are instructions in the toilet block on how to pay by bank transfer or post cash in envelopes provided through their letter box. Great find for a break heading North or South to Scotland or southern England. The sun also shone, which was an improvement to the Epson and the South of England. It has been a scorcher at home in Perth whilst we have been away!

Nice Site

Stayed 2 nights. Given gate access code when booking. A well maintained site.2 loos & shower were spotless. All facilities across a little bridge. Envelopes in toilet block with instructions on how to pay. Yes you can hear noise from the M6 & rail line but it didn't bother us & we barely noticed it in the end. The Lancaster canal is 200m away but it's a muddy path so be aware if it's been raining. The Co-op, pub, wine bar, italian restaurant approx half a mile away but no footpath so bring a torch although the road is fairly quiet. Just us on the Saturday night so very quiet. Would stay here again.

Good for a stopover or longer stay

The site is close to the M6, between two junctions, just south of Garstang. It is good for a stopover or there are things to do for a longer stay eg Forest/Trough of Bowland, Beacon Fell, Garstang and the Lancashire coast. The site itself is quiet and has the benefit of toilets and shower. You can hear traffic noise from M6 and the West Coast mainline but did not find this intrusive. I did all booking over the phone and all was straightforward. Gate code was provided during the telephone call. Although pubs and restaurants were shut due to Covid we know from previous visits to Garstang there are lots of places to eat such as Pipers restaurant, Garstang fish and chips not far from Booth's supermarket and Indian (Sabza) and Italian (Dantes). A must visit is to Wallings Ice Cream Parlour which has a cafe, outdoor seating and takeaway.

Very Peaceful

We have just had a lovely long weekend here on this quiet and peaceful CL with a lovely dawn chorus from the birds in the trees. Ok so the M6 is 800M away and you can hear it but it isn’t obtrusive and the West coast train line is 600M away, you can hear it, and see them but again not intrusive. When I phoned up to book the site I was given all the information I needed (gate lock code when and where to pitch my caravan). I didn’t get to see the site owners, but I didn’t need to. The shower and toilets were clean and adequate with hot water for washing. There are a few notices but common sense and curtesy doesn’t come naturally to some people so all must be told for the benefit of all. A great CL Chris + Jan

Two Loos

Perhaps if I had visited in summer this review might be a little more uplifting, however this is the most expensive CL I’ve stayed on but not the best. At £20 per night (£18 if booking for more than one night) it really should have something special going for it. Email booking replies were within 24hrs but made no mention of code required on arrival. With no one in a phone call was met with a stern response but did give out code so I could get in. Gravelled road & hardstanding is great to have but the tiny grit used was virtually impossible to keep out of van or car. I understand it’s a farm and dogs must be on lead and mess cleaned up but the balance and tone of signage could make even a responsible dog owner feel unwelcome. If you want to charge an ebike or electric car then do so before arrival as this not permitted. For me this was one of the nosiest CL’s I’ve stayed on. In part my own fault for wanting stopover near the M6 It was convenient located between 2 junctions with good access but the drone of vehicles was a constant distraction. The railway line between us and the M6 added to the noise and at night you can feel the freight trains as well as hear them. Theres also a ‘blind’ road summit just along from the CL and it would appear many drivers sound their horn to give warning. The shower & 2 toilets were good but it would have been nice if hand soap had been provided. My stay was 2 single nights over the Christmas period and perhaps because there was plenty of pitches available I should have thought twice.

Very Peaceful

Stayed here with my son a couple of weekends ago for 2 nights, as he was competing on the North West Stages car rally which was based very nearby in Garstang. An amazing CL....nobody was there when we arrived, but a quick phone call to the number on the sign saw us with the code for the padlock at the entrance gate. We were the only people staying there so it was mega peaceful.....yeah, there's a wee bit of background noise from the motorway and the railway line, but it's barely noticeable. The countryside surroundings are lovely, and the showers and toilets are spotless and well appointed. Had a nice chat to the owner before we left on Sunday morning for the journey back home. We will be back!!!

Nice site

We stopped at this site on our way from the Midlands to Scotland and it was convenient from the M6 for a one-night stopover. The site is pleasant, good hardstanding and adequate shower/toilet block with good views and dog walking from site. We easily found the owner on arrival and then we were left alone, which is okay with us! Our only gripes (which will put us off returning) are that at £20 we consider that it is expensive, we have stayed at many sites with better facilities for a lower charge. There is also an abundance of signs telling you what you should/ shouldn't do, whilst I appreciate not everyone is considerate in how they behave I found it all very negative being told to mop the shower, wipe the sink etc etc... .

Nice site indeed

We went here for a weekend away from so-called normality.  We booked and arranged everything by email and there were no problems, all messages were responded to promptly.  Access to the site from the nearby motorway was simple and straightforward.  On arrival we set up and then set off to have a look around. The town of Garstang was very close and so easy to get to.  There is a pub at the end of the road the CL is on, we didn't go in there ourselves but it looked alright. Being a Friday evening there did seem to be a bit of noise from the nearby M6 but it wasn't intrusive and I didn't really here it after initially noticing it.  There was some noise from a train line quite close by but not enough to cause any problems. I would recommend this CL for anyone interested in visiting Garstang or the nearby Trough of Bowland and Beacon Fell.
