Balm for the Soul

The information provided by the owner is Comprehensive and the last few reviews have filled in any gaps so not much more to be added by me. The only reason for giving this review 4* and not 5, (wish I could have split the difference), is solely down to the ease of arrival. Personally I've encountered worse and I noticed during the time we spent here that drivers going up or down the A6033 Hebden Bridge to Keighley road generally knew that there parked cars on one side, nearer to H.B. so care was taken to allow any vehicles that had already started either up or down to have right of way. Common Sense prevailed but there are one or two blind bends as you negotiate with your caravan or Motorhome and you do keep your fingers crossed. The drive to the CL through "Old Town" is fairly straightforward as visibility is good. We didn't travel too far in our 4 night stay but did get down to Gibson Mill and Hardcastle Crags. We also made use of the wonderful weather and walked on the Moor and Hillside. The pub is a Timothy Taylor owned one but not always open on Mondays or Tuesday. The village shop (by the primary school) is well stocked and the cafe next door excellent. The CL is compact but whilst we were there everyone was friendly and showed courtesy to the others. I can see why this site is popular and the owner and family were very pleasant. Pitches are pre-allocated. We had no trouble with EE or Smarty signal. Views are wonderful and sunsets spectacular. Hebden Bridge roads are currently being relaid so expect some delays in town, which in itself is well worth spending some time in. Well worth the effort in getting to it.
