One of the Finest
My wife and I decided to try Lighthouse View Paddock after seeing it in the mag. We don't live a great distance away and love short breaks in Norfolk when we get the opportunity. We stayed for 3 nights in August during the school holidays. It is an adults site only though so no screaming kids :) The directions to site are very good and I would not advise anyone towing to approach from the north as Grub Street is long and narrow and the entrance to the site is angled so if you were to approach from the north you would have to perform a reversing maneuver to get in the gate. Even a short mtorohome might struggle to make the turn. The site is well laid out, laid to grass, firm, with plenty of space. We had a slight issue with our caravan's wheels sinking in some soft earth where the hookup cables had been laid but this was nothing insurmountable. We just moved the van slightly and all was well. The water tap and waste disposal and refuse sorting area are in a good position with easy access (some CLs we have been to are not always and there can be a fair trek to the services). There is a public footpath across farmland into the village within a few hundred yards of the site. There is a Tesco in Stalham (5 miles) and Lidl, Sainsbury's and Waitrose in North Walsham (7 miles). The site is well located for the Broads, the coast and there are some really lovely villages in the surrounding area. I have ancestry from some of them (Worstead and the surrounding villages) so you might say I am biased but as Norfolk villages go there are some of the best. Bacton Woods is great for walking the dogs or for picnicing and seems popular with cyclists as the trails are evident in the woods I have to say the wifi on site was excellent and is better than a lot of club sites we have been to. We were parked about 10 yards from the water tap and the wifi booster is on the building behind so I cannot atest to the quality of the signal across the entire site, however, but at least 3 pitches would have as good a signal as we did. Overall our stay was very good, relaxing and enjoyable. Tony and Ros were very nice, approachable and available, but not in your face - some sites you never see the owner after they have collected their money, which is fine if everything is as it should be and there are no problems. I would rate Lighthouse View Paddock a 5 star site. I would even go as far as to say the best grass site we have been to.
Comment from the Club:
Many thanks for leaving a review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Lighthouse View Paddock CL Site. The CL owner has contacted us as they would like to make sure everyone is accessing their site the correct way. They do not recommend that members enter Grub Street from the south as it would involve travelling the whole length of a narrow Norfolk Bye-way with very few passing places. Sat-navs will also put people in the wrong route and send them this way. As such the CL advises people to disregard the sat-nav when in the Happisburgh area and follow the local directions as published on the maps tab on their site page on the Club website. Also the CL has a specially angled entrance way to facilitate ease of access from the north end of Grub Street for caravanners and motorhome owners so this is the ideal access route. We hope that people find this information useful for future visits.
