Lovely Site

Being a Caravaner Richard knows what a member wants, whether it on the CL or the rally field he goes out of his way to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Will I be back? You bet, need I say more!

Super friendly campsite near a proper "pubby" pub

Very warm welcome from Richard on a Friday evening who pointed out the way to join the Middleton Top Trail just 5 minutes away and also a safe footpath to Middleton with its two pubs. We opted for a grass pitch. The site isn't even everywhere but just one block did the trick. The hard standing pitches looked fairly even, We opted for no electric hook up. If you want a cooked breakfast or afternoon tea they are available and looked fantastic. Richard also sells free range eggs from his own hens which were superb. The site had a small rally that weekend so there was the usual noise associated with when people get together but everyone settled down very early. On the Saturday we walked across 2 fields to the trail and headed left towards Harboro Rocks. This in aneasy "Ethel" for those walkers in the know. It's an easy walk from the trail to the trig point at the top of the rocks. The views over Carsington Water towards Derby and Nottingham were beautiful. There are lots of routes from the campsite for both walking and cycling. Friday night we had a quick visit to The Rising Sun which was OK. However, on Saturday we walked a little further to The Nelson Arms. It was well worth it. A super friendly pub with very reasonable prices. Ultra dog friendly too. Immediately got chatting to the locals who were very welcoming. Heading North on the A6 satnav took us off to the left after crossing the bridge at Whatstandwell. A narrow road with some hairy moments. A better alternative is to go to Cromford on the A6 and turn left. Go up the hill and turn right towards Middleton and follow your nose to the campsite. This way has lovely wide A and B roads and you will arrive stress free. I highly recommend this campsite.

Excellent Site

A warm welcome from the owners to their CL site., which has 5 hard standing pitches and a rally field. There is a bit of road noise through the day but quiet on a night. On a weekend breakfast and afternoon teas are available. Breakfast was excellent. Electricity is metered. There are many walks available from the site. We will certainly be back.

Good site, pleasant stay

A good site to set up and explore places of interest from, owners very welcoming and helpful. Site has good basic amenities for the off grid fraternity; self levelling or ramps needed. Excellent open views of the surrounding countryside and no road noise. No problem with internet access and tv for most channels was fine. Interconnecting trail walks accessed via two of the site owners fields that are flat and easy going, once you pass up the two mentioned fields to access them. We’re not dog owners though think the site may benefit from a dedicated exercise area and perhaps a more familiar Elsan point. Access to and from the site is excellent via the main road (making a pleasant change from some sites access with paint skin width between on coming vehicles). Will definitely be returning.
