Yes it's expensive but there's not much choice within walking distance of Largs

Excellent location and as it's part of the Largs Yacht Haven you pay top dollar. It's efficent and you don't need to meet any staff however they are on site 24/7. All the facilities are clean, plus you have Scott's Restaurant and another cafe which is good for breakfasts all on site. Staff are friendly and with ANPR you are free to come and go as you please. Its quiet and the site has all the amenities you need. I used my Wastemaster to trundle the grey waste over to the disposal point. There is a self service laundry on site - we used Cumbrae Laundry at Millport, £15 to wash and dry a load as we couldn't find anywhere in Largs to do a service wash. Whilst there are marked bays you can literally choose how you park - nose in, reverse in or go sideways alongside the kerb to get the best view - subject to how the other motorhomes/campers have parked. We had no issues with our 7.2m van. If you stay for a few days you could use the free spot round the corner and then pay for a night to dump your waste and use the other facilities.

Beautiful views but a tad expensive for a CL

All automated arrival by ANPR so never saw a soul. It is just a tarmac car park with a couple of removal barriers and is really for small motorhomes/campervans as pitches were very small. Toilet block facilities were very clean and shared with boating community but not very many showers so had to sit and wait - not sure what it would be like in peak season. As stated before, the chemical and grey waste isn’t near and quite tight to manoeuvre over. The views are fantastic. The walk into Largs is easy along a paved pathway with views all along the route. Easy ferry over to Cumbrae £4 return and £3.50 return for the bus to take you into Millport. We’ve taken the bikes and cycled around the island before - about 10 easy miles. It is expensive for what it is.

UpIs this the most expensive CL ever?

Stayed here for one night as a retired couple in a MoHo. Whilst I realised the site was expensive, I thought it would be OK for one night. Yes there is a view over the water but you are in effect parked in a car park. The shower facilities are shared with the yachting people, they are clean and in very good condition. The grey water & chemical loo point are a bit of a distance from where the pitches are, as are the bins. The car park in marked out with 5 bays for CMC use , but the bays are not really long enough for anything over 5M the rear of the vehicle sticks out well past the marked space. The sit was not as quiet as it could be, we had a number of modified cars running up and down making quite a noise, Scott Restaurant on site served very good food. Overall it is just a pitch in a rather expensive car park, definitely NOT worth £40 a night. About 100m before the entrance barrier is another car park, where MoHo park up overnight for free!

1st Class but becoming expensive

The pitches are located with a view over to the Isle of Cumbrae. Seals are seen regularly, dolphins occassionally and last year, basking sharks. Nice 20 minute stroll on a walkway in to Largs. Good facilities including 2 onsite eateries. 2 observations: the price is becoming expensive, I mentioned this to 2 staff members. The grey waste outlet is not well located and requires careful manouvering to access.

Location, location, location

Stayed for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Booked online and received all required information on email and text. ANPR in operation at the barrier for arrival. The pitches are not very long and e fitted our 6m van- just. Some larger vans were overhanging the pitch but the site management didn’t seem to mind. A caravan arrived and the owner was given permission to park sideways across the pitch. All 5 pitches overlooked the sea with beautiful views and sunsets over the islands. An easy walk takes you into Largs but there is a regular train service which enables people to visit Glasgow or hop onto the frequent ferries to Rothesay or Great Cumbrae. The facilities were of a high standard and well heated and maintained without the need to close them for 90 minutes. Would certainly return.

High quality

Shower block is spotless. Full washing up and washing machine facilities. Hairdryers. Great views. Quiet. We had a glitch with our electrics on arrival, but got good help from staff member. Fresh water and EHU at pitch. Grey (drive over) and black waste disposal on site. Site is tarmac and pretty level overall, but we were on a pitch with a slight dip at the front, so we used our ramps. Pitches are wide with plenty of space between them. Pitches as marked out are not very long, but next to us was a 6-wheeler that must have been 8m+ in length. I would have given 5 stars but for the price.

Great views, convenient and well-serviced but costly

The views across the water to Cumbrae are amazing and there's always something to look at as yachts, dingies and ferries come and go. There are good walks in both directions along easy coastal routes and you can visit Largs or nearby Kelburn Castle and estate with just 20-25 mins walking. All facilities at the marina (washrooms etc) are excellent. Also very helpful to have a restaurant/bar and separate cafe less than 3 mins walk. Pitches have water and electric to each and booking / access etc are all seamless. The only downsides are the price (at £38 all year round it's a costly choice) and the fact that it's essentially just the corner of a car park, with the pitches defined by paint on the ground.

Great but expensive

Very easy arrival and parking not a problem - although might have been more difficult if fully booked as the pitches are quite close together and a larger van parked nearby exceeded the marked pitch area. Views super and dog friendly cafe / restaurant (Scott’s) was great as was the gluten free menu. Used EHU and water. Didn’t explore other facilities due to the torrential rain! Would like to come back but VERY expensive.

Great Location But Too Expensive

An absolute stunning location with beautiful views. The facilities are first class and are shared with yacht owners on the marina. However like others would agree that it is expensive for what is essentially a corner of a car park. The pitches are too small for anything other than a VW type camper but would only be a problem if all pitches were full.

Too expensive!!!

Great location and views, but too expensive for a car park and tarmac. Pitches were not defined and were very close to neighbours. Scott’s Restaurant was excellent.
