Large field with plenty of room

There was some confusion about our booking when we arrived (and others apparently) but this was soon sorted. We loved the large field with numerous trees and shrubs for privacy. All facilities were clean and tidy and there was a lovely field to walk the dog. Plenty to do in the area, we walked and cycled a lot and thoroughly enjoyed our stay except for.....On site one couple had two dogs who were running free and believe it or not one was in season!! this not only spoilt our stay but others also commented on the lack of respect for other people with dogs. We spoke to the offending people who just replied "we will try and keep them under control" but no change, my husband actually heard him on the 'phone laughing about the chaos it was causing. Other dogs in the neighbourhood were also paying the site a visit re the dog being in season. Not Pete and Mel's fault but just a couple of bad mannered people who didn't give a damn for other people.

Nice place to stay, dogs welcome

I only stayed for two nights but was very happy with here. It's quiet with all the facilities I needed. My only point was that when I arrived I wasn't sure where to report to to ask where to pitch. Otherwise a nice stay. Walked to St. Kew where there's a lovely old pub.

So peaceful

Just had 3 weeks here at Pete and Mels, gorgeous weather, if anything too hot at times. This is such a quiet site with ample facilities, it is after all a CL not the Ritz. Pete, Mel and Joan lovely folk, and nice to meet them again. Enjoyed our stay so much we are going again in September. The approach down the lane can be a little hairy at times when you meet someone doing a great rate of knots. But hey ho, these are Cornish lanes. Once there you are rewarded with peace and quiet, also well mown grass area. Each pitch slightly screened by shrubbery and trees and a good size. As a couple we are more than happy with what's on offer at Kivells.

Could do better

Though the surroundings are lovely and peaceful, this site could do with an upgrade in care and attention. There were 6 caravans on for 12 of the 14 nights we were there. No toilet rolls for several days and no hand towels for over a week. The Internet was more off than on the whole time. There have been complaints about the Internet going back to 2016 - still not working well. Hard to get hold of owners to complain.

What a CL should be.

We have just spent almost 2 weeks at this CL. It is beautiful and very well kept, although we had rain for most days of the stay the ground did not get muddy, but very wet. The only down side to the CL was the toilet and shower, they are both in the same room, with doors to separate then of course, but still not very private for people in shower or in the loo, it could also do with updating a little as the grout in the shower was very black on the bottom of the shower cubicle. Having said that i know that they have had expence already as the site had no Electric when they took it over, so maybe the show room is next on the list. The owner Peter and his wife Melanie were very helpful and not forgetting Jean Peters Mom, she was also a lovely lady. we would return when in the area.

Lovely, quiet Cl with loads of room

We are making an effort to try some new Cls and this one is an hour from home. We stayed for a weekend and enjoyed it very much. As said in previous posts, the pitches feel like they are in a garden with lovely short grass. All of the ( very large) pitches are around the edge and most are seperated my mature trees. You can pitch as you like, so long as you can reach your electric box. There is some shade but you can move your chairs out into the sunshine, as the sun moves round. It was windy when we were there, so had to face East but we still had lots of sunny areas to sit in. There is one tap by the toilet block and waste disposal hidden in the trees nearby. The toilet block is basic. There is one loo which lacks a little privacy (walls open at the top), one large shower that costs 20p for about 4 minutes and one basin with only cold water. This could be improved as it is a large space but for a CL, it is pretty good. It is kept very clean and is decorated well. The recycling is indoors and they make a real effort to get you to recycle as much as possible (well done). There is a large table tennis room too with lots of information on the local area. We had a warm welcome from Pete and Mel and were given lots of info. The site is very quiet on a little used, narrow country lane. You are only a few minutes drive to the Port Isaac and Rock. Trevathan Farm shop in St Endellion is open for 9am and serves food breakfasts but can get busy in the height of holiday season. Highly recommended and we hope to be back.

WOW

This is a fabulous site kept lovely by the owners and Petes Mum. On arrival our next pitch neighbours said " welcome to paradise ", that really sums this C.L up. Lovely spacious pitches, grass kept short and removed, no trailing clippings into awning or van. Fortunately didn't meet anything using lane whilst negotiating with van on. Nice area for visitng places of interest. Shall be back again, can't wait.

Ideal quiet site

Stopped at Kivells again for a 10 night stay, mid October. We'll be back again. Says it all really. One of our favourite sites.

Lawned with plenty of room - excellent...

Stayed here in June. The best CLs require a bit of effort - so be prepared for the narrow lane from the main road. Lovely lawned area with plenty of room, good loo and shower, plus 'free' (take note CC) Wi-Fi in the table tennis area. Accommodating owners. Had Sunday roast at the Maltsters Arms - good meal, nice ale...

What a gem of a site.

Just had 16 nights on this C.L. and can highly recommend it . The owners are lovely people who gave us a nice welcome then left us alone until our fridge broke down at which point they very kindly made us some space in one of their fridges , being without a fridge for a week wouldn't have totally ruined the holiday but it would have made life difficult with the hot weather we were fortunate enough to have , thanks to Pete and Mel it was no problem .  The site is as described a lawn and in this case it really is with no loose grass clippings left for us to walk into the Caravan.  Each pitch is a really good size and the surrounding trees are such that each pitch is more or less self contained . Toilet and Shower always nice and clean and lots of useful info available in the table tennis room . There is a gate from the site into a field next door which is ideal if you have a dog , we were able to let ours have a good run in the field morning and night .  Nice pub down the road in Chapel Amble , great pint and although we didn't actually eat in there ourselves the food looked really good. Definite 5 star C.L.
