An unusual CL- visit March 2017

As previous review stated facilities are a bit dated. Toilets and shower are unisex but nothing unusual there. What is different here is that site is owned by RSPB so warden has no particular interest in interacting with guests. He was interviewed on Countryfile last weekend and clearly his interest is ornithological. If site is full I feel fifth pitch is a bit sub-standard and may be challenging to make use of. Site is perfectly located for access to Spurn Point ( or island?) on foot and is also next to a pub which does not open early in the week when we visited. We found it extremely quiet after 7.00 pm and not in any way noisy thru the day. If you are in this part of the world a few nights here should not be missed. Not however a good choice for a touring holiday. Much flat cycling available from here but avoid attempting to get across to Spurn Head by bike.

Campervan visit July 2015

Ideally situated for birdwatching around Kilnsea Wetlands and Spurn NNR. Hardstanding and shelter from trees would make stays possible throughout the year. Levellers may be needed. Rather a "tired" site with clean but dated facilities including a pay shower. Some noise from cars parking at entrance to site and anglers movements which can be early or late, dependent upon the tides! Warden little in evidence.

nature paradise

We have stayed at Kew on many occasions, to be fair if you like birds and nature this is the site for you as it is the home of Spurn Bird Observatory. The site itself has five hard standing pitches with electric and a small shower and toilet block. The site is sheltered by trees and bushes all round so it does limit the views however you only need to walk out the gates and you are literally on the river humber with only a five minute walk to the beach. Spurn point is a great walk and a nature paradise. Next door to the site is the Crown and anchor pub which does great food at good prices (I recommend the gammon) and is a lovely pub to look over the humber in a friendly atmosphere. There are supermarkets in nearby withernsea. The warden Paul is a nice guy and also runs the bird observatory and is a font of knowledge on all things about birds, he is out ringing and recording them all day and is always happy to answer questions. For nature lovers this has to be the best site in the country, for people like us its just a lovely relaxing site.
