A peaceful retreat
We were made very welcome by Maryann and Ralph at this quiet peaceful site. Prior to our visit they had just installed electric meters for each pitch. Ten units were included in the pitch price and anything used above this is to be paid for by inserting pound coins into the meter. We had not come across this before but understand it is a fair system to charge for what you use as we all only too aware of the increased costs at the moment. We had no idea how much we would use and so both Maryann and ourselves were interested to know what are usage was. On both nights we stayed we used about 8 units so there was no extra for us to pay. To put this into context for comparison purposes we have a vw campervan and used the electric for our small fan heater, to run the fridge and to charge our devices.
During our stay we enjoyed the 61/2 mile circular walk from the site which took in the Anglo-Saxon church of St Peter’s, the lovely shell beach, the abundance of wading birds and geese along the salt marsh and estuary as well as the marina and pretty village of Bradwell on Sea. We also visited Burnham on Crouch which was well worth a visit for its individual shops, eateries and walk along the sea wall. All in all it was good to visit an area of the country that we had not visited before.
