Peaceful and very friendly

Surrounded by fields with lambs, calves and even rheas (think Ostrich), this is really away from it all. We enjoyed seeing the farmer's dogs rounding up the sheep and the rheas and then collecting said rhea egg which is the size of a small rugby ball! Brought one home and followed the recipe displayed in the on site toilet, buying the extra ingredients from the nearby excellent Town End Farm Shop - delicious. The nearby village of Airton is about a mile walk and although there is no pub, we ate out at the local B & B, Lindon House, which does evening meals. Very reasonably priced, all local produce and very friendly people. All in all a lovely stay made memorable by Farmer, David, who took my husband off to feed the cows on his buggy one morning and allowed me to bottle feed a lamb.
