Peaceful Views

We stayed here at the end of July 2023. It is a large site with lots of room between other caravans. It has level pitches with waste, electric and water for each pitch. We were amazed to find ourselves the only campers during our stay but we thoroughly enjoyed the tranquillity. There is a coded electronic gate at the entrance giving you peace of mind that your caravan is secure whilst you are out. It is a new site, so the grass does need to thicken up and there are rabbits that dig, but that is the countryside and will be easily remedied. There is a wind turbine near the site as stated on other reviews, but we did not hear it and it is out of site from the pitches. We were very late booking online, so did not get an email prior to arriving but were met at the gate with full apologies and an email very quickly arrived with all necessary details. We have a large 5th wheel caravan that was welcomed and the site has all necessities to cater for it, including a wide entrance which is easy to negotiate and the automatic gate gives you plenty of time to get through before closing. I can see lots of potential for the site in the very near future. It is very well positioned for local attractions, restaurants and supermarkets. We will definitely visit again. The only negatives are that there is a minimum 3 night stay which will make it difficult for us to visit for weekends which is such a shame as we would be able to use the site a lot more if we could come on a Friday evening and leave on a Sunday. I feel the £2 dog fee is unnecessary as it makes the site slightly more expensive against other sites nearby.

5 Star Potential - Work in Progress

We stayed on this CL for 6 days in July 2023. For 5 days we were the only outfit on site. This CL has the potential to be 5 star but it is not there yet. Just my opinion. It is a business, Cranmer Country Cottages, it’s not like an owner loved CL. There is substantial investment. We are CL users, new CL’s offering what this site has on offer are very welcome. The CL is within the farm, not the owners home as stated in the marketing material. The web site states dog walks from site. There aren’t any. The site has lots going for it, it needs, in my view, more effort to make it reach its potential. The site schematic showing water points, pitch locations etc shows screening between pitches, there isn’t any. The staff member we texted answered that they did not know why it said that on the web site. The web site is misleading. The site is right in the top corner of the overhead photograph on the web site. I thought is was the area close to the house. We did not meet any staff or the owners, all done by email and text. To chat you are invited to walk to the office, 250 yards away, during office hours Monday to Friday. Efficient but not friendly. There is no access directly from the CL into the tennis courts. It’s a good walk along the road from the CL. The field is quite rough, tufty grass, quite a few high growing weeds, work in progress that needs attention. I needed to do some weeding and digging out a lump of building material before we pitched our awning, pitch 1. The web site states, ‘well maintained grass’, weeds, tufty grass, lots of bare patches, lots of rabbit droppings and rabbit holes. There is lots that’s good, big area, security gate although no pedestrian entrance, free Wi-Fi, serviced pitches, EHU not metered (although it states it is on the web site), peaceful (away from the road but some aircraft and wind turbine noise), and why a minimum of three day booking, efficiency? It is exactly what we search for, serviced pitch on a CL, at a great price with free wi-fi, lots of space and in a good location. Notes to self. Do not consider a CL if there is not a good photograph of the site showing the ground conditions. Do not choose a CL purely because it has serviced pitches. Overall Rating – Just a three from me. There are quite a few areas such as the ground and the provision of information that need attention.

Jubilee Stay June 2022

New Site. Level Pitches. A bit uneven driving to and from pitch. We thought it was a little expensive until we were told we were aloud to use the facilities at the cottages. (swimming pool, tennis courts etc) Although i don't know why we were charged an extra £2 a night for our dog. No dog walk or Poo bins on site. 4 mile cycle ride into Fakenham on a cycle route Would stay again.

Peaceful site

This new CL is up and running with friendly and helpful owners and staff. We've recently enjoyed a peaceful stay here over the second week in May. Large, well serviced level pitches but the ground surface is rather uneven. Plenty of wildlife to be seen - you may be lucky and see deer. Well placed for getting to the coast. There are plenty of quiet roads for cycling. Short drive to Fakenham for supermarket. There is some aircraft noise but this would be common to most of the campsites in this area. All in all a pleasant experience.
