A really lovely, back to basics site. Approached via a long drive off a small lane but no problems. The field is small and surrounded by trees which give a little protection from any wind. It really is right at the top of a hill so could get interesting in high winds but it does mean excellent 4G signal (on 3 and Vodafone at least). Bit of a slope so levelling blocks a must. A water tap just through the gate at the top of the field. No showers or toilet but for £11 a night you can't go wrong. Stunning views all round and some lovely walks. The site has a small wood which has mown paths giving lovely dog walks right on site. Lovely people own it. This is a real hidden gem!
This basic site away from it all. Only noise we heard were bleating sheep and the odd crow. Several quiet donkeys in adjacent field. One other camper on site when we stayed one night. We managed to get reasonably level without blocks for the one night but not many level places on site. Tap and emptying facilities were available. We would stay again if in the area.
We stayed here in August. Sue greeted us upon arrival and was warm and friendly. The site is fenced and grass was short. There were even some friendly donkeys adjoining the field whose antics we enjoyed watching. Water and chemical disposal was close by. We enjoyed some fantastic hikes and walked to Ilam Hall one day. We will definitely visit again.
Very quiet, in fact we were the only visitors here. A slightly rough access track from the road, but no problem if driving sensibly. Levelling ramps are needed. Easy access to local attractions, we did a circular walk from here, going up Dovedale to Milldale. The owner met us on arrival and was friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again.
