Peaceful and great location

This site is an amazing find! It is really quiet and has lovely views and yet is just a few miles from Symonds Yat and a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk across fields from the small town of Coleford which has everything you need, including a Lidl and a great fish and chip shop! Beauty spots and attractions in the Wye Valley are all easily accessed from here. The owners were friendly and helpful. The site is sloping but only slightly so this didn't prove a problem for us. There is one hardstanding by the entrance. Lots of room and you are free to choose where you park up which I liked. No lining up! Drinking water, waste disposal, electric hookup and recycling available. Lovely walks starting from the site itself. Much recommended is the short walk to the village of Newland where you can visit All Saints Church, known as 'The Cathedral of the Forest', as it was originally built in a clearing in the forest. It is now surrounded by fields. The village is beautiful and has an old pub called The Ostrich which is known for good food. This was closed when we were there (April 2022) but a notice on the door said it would be reopening soon. No traffic noise on the site (unless something came down the lane, which was rare). Only thing to be heard was the sheep calling their lambs and birdsong. All in all, a fantastic place to relax. Would love to return!

Quiet and Spacious

We arrived to a warm welcome from John, told us to pitch where we wanted. The site is hidden down a quiet road, access on to site is very easy. The site is slightly sloping but easy enough to level up our motorhome with large well spaced out pitches. The site is about 1 mile from Coleford which has everything you need shopping wise, in the opposite direction about 10 minutes walk is the Ostrich Inn serving good food and drinks, check opening times. The site is well placed for for visiting the local area and has walks straight of site. Eileen and John are lovely hosts always ready to chat. This is a well presented site and well worth visiting. ( Payment can now be made by card).

An amazing site for peace and tranquility

This CL site was amazing, we enjoyed the 2 nights we stayed here very much. Lots of lovely walks around the site. Mrs Wood was very helpful telling us of some lovely places to visit. The site is clean, tidy and has amazing views towards the garden and up the valley. We would recommend this to anyone.

Relaxing stay

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and had a very relaxing time. The site is very quiet and within walking distance, across a field and then footpaths, of the town of Coleford and a short drive to some lovely places to visit and go for long walks. The owners are lovely and very welcoming. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Perfect Tranquility

A perfect CL in a beautiful peaceful location. Access to the site easy along a quiet lane with good visibility and passing places. One hardstanding, all other pitches on grass but minimal levelling required. A bit of a slope to negotiate when leaving the site, but the very welcoming owner advises of an alternative exit available at the bottom end of the site if necessary. Absolute key when choosing a site for me is close access to a good network of footpaths without the need to walk along busy/fast roads, and this fits the bill perfectly with pleasant short walks into Coleford and Newland and plenty further afield too. For those that care, I found TV and 4G mobile reception to be perfectly decent.

Lots of excellent walks

Very friendly and warm welcome. The earlier posts regarding difficulties gaining access seem to have been resolved, our overall length of car and caravan is 42 feet and I managed without difficulty. Great area for walking much of it near the site so we didn't use our car every day. We particularly liked the fact that you could site your unit at any position that suited rather than the usual street like line up. A little uneven ground but we managed to add our awning without difficulty. My only constructive comment is that the grass was very long and you need wellingtons on walking about in the morning dew or wet days

Peace and quiet

Beautiful quiet site.... No traffic noise at all. Owners are delightful. Walking from site is excellent. We walked through Coleford on to the Christchurch to Symonds Yat forest walk and down to the river. We will return to this site..... Highly recommend.

5 days of bliss!

This site caught us out and kept us there for 4 days more than our plan. Peaceful working farm - with rolling hills and trees and sheep are your only neighbours. Tranquil views from the hills around to wales across the river low lands and only a 20 min walk through the fields to a great pub and beautiful village 'Newlands'. Its 8 mins drive to the centre of the forest of dean and we recommend Tintern abbey and the walk up the monmouth valley to Offa's dyke, the devils pulpit and then back down through the woods to Tintern village. Eileen and John our hosts and Bryn the dog were friendly, funny and welcoming with great local tips and warm smiles. We hope to come back soon. Jemima and Dave Melton

A lovely tranquil place

We have just spent 4 nights in this wonderful CL, with lovely views and near to places of interest. Traffic was almost inaudible, and the only thing we heard were the sheep. Eileen was very welcoming and helpful. Obviously, special measures are in force to meet the government rules regarding covid 19 hygiene. Despite one very wet night, the soil drained well and we didn't have any problem the next day. There is no problem with levelling, and the chemical disposal was very clean and easy to use. Water pressure is very good. We will definitely be back.
