Just what you want in a CL

We spent just the one night here, out once pitched up after the rigours of the M5, we wished we had booked for longer. Easy to find using the supplied directions. Wonderful Devon landscape with lovely views. So peaceful and quiet. Like others, we visited RHS Rosemoor, with a little apprehension as we had been only a small step up from shielding during lockdown, and had not been anywhere with lots of other people or to any shops etc. Although Rosemoor felt busy, we felt very safe due to the restrictions in place. At the CL, there were hand santisiers fixed to the water tap and the chemical disposal. A gentle slope to the field means levelling blocks useful. We went on a lovely walk along the surrounding lanes. A perfect CL

Tranquility!

We spent 2 nights here, we were fortunate to only have the sheep as neighbours!I It is a little adventurous to find, but oh so lovely up on the field, our first day was clear and we could see all the way to Lundy Island. The field slopes down and we had to empty our waste water more often as we were very low at the back, but waste and refill facilities all close by. TV reception is brilliant the mast is a little way beyond the farm!! We visited RHS Rosemoor while we were here and we will be back to both Higher Darracott Farm and it's nearby RHS garden.

Warm hospitality despite cool weather

We have just spent 5 nights at this secluded but attractive site. Lovely views in a beautiful area. Unfortunately it rained during much of our stay and we also had problems with our caravan's Truma heating system. The site owner did his best to assist us in identifying the fault and also generously lent us a portable heater. We would certainly recommend this CL and will not hesitate to stay there again ourselves if we decide to re-visit the area in the future.

Peaceful site

Spent a lovely night at this site, very peaceful and situated off the beaten track amongst beautiful scenery. Lovely owners, who (in the nicest way) left us to choose our pitch and settle ourselves in. Very relaxing and a gorgeous sunset when we were there. The site had the basics that we needed....chemical disposal and water. Would certainly return again......thank you!

Lovely CL

An extremely peaceful site with nice views.  Very pleasant, helpful owner.  The grass was kept well cut & access is easy.  Nice to have 'good electricity'.  The only downside was it was not walkable to a pub but that is minor.  Would return if in the area again.  Thank you.

Far from the Madding Crowd

Spent a lovely week here on peaceful site with friendly, helpful owner. Weather disappointing but we still made most of the area. RHS Rosemoor is a must-see garden only four miles away and worth visiting more than once. Great Torrington full of history and friendly locals. Lundy Island and Tarka Trail well within reach. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Off the beaten track

Firstly..check if your stay will be adults only.  We booked this site during half term and expected to be adults only, but towards the end of our stay a family turned up, who were clearly frequent users of the site!  The site is easy to find using the final instructions provided, and the site just PAST the farm house. Amenities are as expected on a CL, the grass was cut whilst we were on site and the area very peaceful.  We would return again, but after checking no young families were expected.

12 nights in North Devon

Arrived at Higher Darracott Farm on 20th June 2014 and stayed for 12 nights. We were greeted by Phillip (owner) and discussed where to pitch. Field is lawned and easy to access. Lovely views and with such a relaxed atmosphere from Phillip and the location we were in for a great holiday. Fabulous views of North Devon and despite being on a hilltop the site is sheltered by a strong hedge. The fantastic sunsets are a bonus and the wandering band of Hens with their bossy Cockerels Cameron and Angus gave us some great amusing moments. Very handy for Barnstaple and a must to visit Great Torrington and very nearby Bideford. Coast easy to access. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay which seemed to go very quickly. Many Thanks to Ann and Phillip.

Peaceful retreat

Excellent views on three sides including as far as Lundy Island on a clear day plus lovely sunsets. Entrance was easy but field a little uneven though good pitches in a line in front of recently built barn. Owners, who also run beautiful holiday barn and B&B, were extremely friendly and helpful. In summary a lovely rural retreat.
