Stayed here this easter 2024. We had a great stay with our Kids and dog. We didn't have a problem with the single track road leading up to the site it does have a few passing places and it's not a busy road. The shower cabin and toilet certainly did the job for us. Communication between Samantha and us leading up to us arriving was great. Easy access to Appleby and Kirkby Stephen.
Lovely peaceful site
Had a lovely 3 night stay here recently and would definitely visit again. The site is next to a very quiet single track road with lovely far reaching views and very well kept surroundings. Lovely walks, friendly owner, perfect for a relaxing peaceful break.

stunning and peaceful
Stayed 3 nights weather was windy but didn't ruin our stay. will be going back. the views where fantastic and so peaceful. lovely friendly owners and a well maintained site
Stunning views of the beautiful scenery.
This well equipped and very quiet CL has everything you could wish for with stunning views over the the adjacent countryside, EHU, toilet and shower, and a well managed waste disposal system. Mrs Jackson is an extremely welcoming and helpful host; especially as somehow we managed to leave the money for the next site in an envelope in her dust bin, which she retrieved and returned to us. The site is well placed for visiting Appleby and Kirkby Steven. We would definitely recommend a stay. If there is one tiny criticism, it is the ground is a little uneven and you may require wheel chocks to level up your accommodation. Or you could book a stay in one of Mrs Jacksons static caravans.
Stunning view from pitch
One of the best views from any CL we've stayed on. The pitch was quite sloping but we were allocated some hardstanding which helped. There are plans to level the field next year which will make it easier for motorhomes. All facilities spotless and Mrs Jackson very eager to help.
Beautiful walks in the area: Rutter Falls were in full flow and quite dramatic. The walk from Great Ormside to Appleby is lovely, but very muddy, along the River Eden. Sadly the weather was bad so we cut our stay short by a day but will definitely revisit so that we can climb some of the fells in the area. The people we met on walks were extremely friendly and helpful, including one kind man who even let us park our MH on his drive when we expressed concern about where to leave it! The Courtyard Café in Appleby is worth a visit (outside seating area) and Fish and Chips eaten overlooking the Riven Eden doesn't get much better.

West is best
Just stayed the weekend, nice location, west facing so nice sunsets.
Clean & presentable shower & toilet with hand basin. Friendly welcome from Mrs Jackson. Follow the directions given on instructions as all other routes not suitable for a caravan or large vehicle. Shall be returning.
Thank you.
Piece of heaven
We stayed on our way back from the Lakes to the Northeast, found the site very easily the other side of the A66 and through Appleby a lovely market town and a nice place to visit. The site was very clean, facilities in the little WC and shower cabin were good and easy to get to. We were welcomed by the friendly owner on arrival. The views are to die for overlooking the Eden valley, not a sound to be heard except birds. just wonderful and we will be visiting again. one tip, be careful as you approach because if you miss the entrance to the CL you have a long lane to go down before you can turn back. Its worth a look on google maps to see it plus castle heights is a house, not a castle. Highly recommended.
Beautiful site
Beautiful views and so peaceful especially when there is no mobile phone signal. Lots of footpaths very near the site. We never used the facilities so can't comment of them. There was gales during our stay but we seemed to be sheltered on pitch 1. Look forward to visiting again in better weather to really take in the views and relaxation.
A wonderful CL
We loved our stay here. We came to do some nearby geocaching around Eden Valley, some of which we could walk to without using the car. The views were wonderful - within a few minutes of arriving I saw a sparrow hawk and during our stay we were regularly treated to the sight of geese flying to and from the fields down by the little fishing pool. We watched buzzards circling and calling over the fields in front of the van. One morning I saw a stoat or weasel running across the lane. I don't think I've ever been to such a quiet place. And the stars! There's no light pollution so when the stars were visible they were really clear and bright.
I chose this one because of the loo and shower - we do have a loo but our bathroom is a tiny one so I like to use a bigger shower. The little cabin was very clean and spider free (!) and the shower was very welcome after a day's walking in the hot sunshine.
Appleby is lovely to walk round - especially the church of St Lawrence, and has lots of little shops including a Spar shop.
Finally I can't praise the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners enough: they leant us a battery charger because we had problems with our electrics, a chair when our daughter arrived for our last night and we only had 3 chairs with us, but most of all for the help and support they gave us when our car died literally just as we had pulled out of the entrance onto the lane to go home. They let me use their landline to call the breakdown service as neither of our phones could get a signal, and then let my kids and I sit in the empty static to watch tv while we waited anxiously for the breakdown truck to arrive. Definitely worth the 5 stars for the welcome. We will be back!
A gem of a site
Lovely site with magnificent views across the Eden Valley and good walking straight from the site. Toilet and shower was very clean and although in a garden shed was more than comfortable and adequate for the site. No hard standing which could prove difficult in wet weather for larger motorhomes although there was a gravel drive onto site with turning area.
