What a welcome despite the owners being out. Greeted by name on the board with instructions to choose a pitch and park any way we like, information shed for info, we’ll see you later. We were the 5th van to arrive and we still had plenty of choice on where to pitch. That evening Andy came to say hello and collect payment I presumed, but he wasn’t bothered so long as it was paid before we left, we did pay there and then. We were also presented with 2 delightful beautifully iced homemade cup cakes, which tasted as good as they looked. Thank you. The site is very level, enclosed on one side by a well established hedge offering shade and a fence with a newish hedge growing. Nice touch of benches around the site, with delightful hedgehog bases. As already mentioned there is a comprehensive information shed that is well stocked with books, board games and puzzles to enjoy. A combined shower and toilet room, with a ready supply of toilet rolls, shampoo and shower gel should you have forgotten yours, I noticed it had a heater so should be good in the cooler weather too. There was another toilet by the very sensible motorhome service point. Really easy black and grey waste disposal together with clearly labelled easy access recycling.  Lots of thought has gone into this site and it shows. There was free Wifi which was great the during our whole visit and I know one lady was watching Iplayer for the tennis. There is a both stop, in each direction, for buses into Ely and Wisbech almost outside the site; a timetable in the information shed. We didn’t use the buses, but it looked to be a limited service, allowing a morning start and afternoon return. A short pleasant stroll from the site takes you into the village, which offers 2 pubs, a Nisa Local and a car sales place which sells fuel too. Very friendly natives. A noticeboard about the area states there are 35 miles of roads, footpaths and droves and ways in the parish alone, so plenty of walking and cycling on the doorstep. As it’s situated in The Fens its flat and easy walking and cycling. We did get out to visit Ely, a very pretty city with a river frontage and plenty of boats to watch. The cathedral contains the Stained Glass Museum which was great, there is an entry fee into the cathedral and another into the museum. We also visited Oliver Cromwell’s house which was very informative. We will definitely be back, we tried to book but they were full – and that’s before I shared all this with you!! So please be kind and don’t book to leave us a chance to visit again.
