Lovely CL

We've just come back from a lovely weekend in Anglesey at gwel y wawr CL ,the view over red warfe bay was fantastic and the site is very well run,the owners couldn't do enough to help they provide blocks for the front of the caravan to make the most of the view and the toilets are spotless,we will definitely be returning oh and a pub 150 yards away doing food. Thanks V Wilson

Warm welcome

This is our first visit to Anglsey and this site, the view form our pitch was stunning! the walk to the beach took about 25 minutes , however coming back was all up hill, still quite enjoyable. Visited the town of Bumaris not much to see and the weather didnt help. all in all a pleasent stay with warm friendly welcome, especially from Diesel the dog. would visit again

Fabulous Winter Views

What a great site for location and views over Red Wharf Bay, stayed here for New Years, during the winter months you have two pitches available both with amazing views, easy access to the site and pitch, the site slopes but blocks are provided and help setting up if you require but the slope provides the views. Owners are very warm and welcoming, toilet facility provided if you need it, good Fresh and Waste Water at the entrance to site and easy toilet waste facility too, I think the EHU is 6amp, we didn't ask but we couldn't use the microwave, not that it was a problem for us, but if your microwave junkies it might be worth asking. The gem of this site is the views and a resident owl that keeps you company in the early hours, this site is on a main road however the noise is minimal and you can't see any traffic from your caravan to be fair but the benefit to this is that your on a bus route with a stop right outside and of course it makes the access very easy, there is a pub in strolling distance, a Texaco Petrol Station encompassing a Spar Market for essentials and pre filling the car before the journey home is down the road and you can get anywhere rather quickly with the A55 a 10 min drive from site. Would I recommend this site, Hell yes.

Great location

Gwel Y Wawr is easily located and despite being on a main road there is little road noise. It provides a great base for seeing all of Anglesey as well as mainland Wales. There is a petrol station, Spar supermarket, Chinese takeway and 2 pubs close by. The views of Red Wharf bay are fantastic. The site is quite sloping and the owner provides blocks of wood to help with this. We had our front steadies and jockey wheel raised 6 inches on blocks. This meant it took a little longer to set up. The space between caravans is a little tight and if everyone had an awning up there would be little space between vans. However, the owner is pleasant and helpful and the site has everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

Anglesey's bit of heaven

Just preparing to set off to Gwel Y Wawr tomorrow for the umpteenth time (26/05/2016). The fact that we do go back regularly reflects just how beautiful this site is. Mr & Mrs Barber are perfect hosts, the view is stupendous with some magnificent sunrises visible particularly around May/June/July.

Lovely views

Visited in July and found warm welcome backed up by super views across the bay which changed constantly with the tide and weather. Pitching was easy on graveled hardstanding although blocks required (and provided) on some pitches. Facilities clean and well located. Easy access to coastal walks down nearby lane and cycling around the area was also enjoyable on quiet roads. Concerns about proximity to the road soon disappeared, there was slight noise from the distance but not intrusive and nights were very quiet. Enjoyed our week and would have stayed longer if we had not prebooked elsewhere.

Outstanding Site & Views

This is an excellent CL, the pitches are well spaced and all have wonderful views of Red Wharf Bay and the surrounding area. The CL is well managed, the water and waste facilities are easily at hand and the toilet facilities are spotless. The owners are very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive, the site is a credit to them. There are easy walks to Red Wharf Bay and left along the coastal path to pubs and restaurants at Red Wharf (you may need good boots or wellingtons) or right the area below the hills of Llanadonna. I would not hesitate in visiting this site again, but would be sure to book well in advance due to it's popularity.

Our favourite CL site

If you want peace and quiet, a great place to stay with easy access to lovely walks, a couple of good pubs and a small town just up the road, this is the place to stay. The views are fantastic and an easy walk soon has you on the dog friendly beaches. The couple who run it are friendly and helpful, they will offer you any help or advise you may need. Thank you Stephen and Einir, we always love to visit your site.
