Lovely spacious site, easy to find from the handbook directions. Open to offer views but not exposed and some planting on the grass area. Plenty of room to pull into the entrance off the road, gated site monitored by CCTV, clear instructions on what to do if no reply to bell on the gate. We'd booked a hardstanding for our motorhome but were advised we could use a grass pitch should we wish. Forecast was for wet weather during our stay so stuck with the hard standing and we had a choice of either of the 2 both of which were very level reinforced gravel, although I suspect we would have been fine on the grass. Lovely views over the countryside from all the pitches, nice touch with communal BBQ - charcoal, and seating area. A water tap was directly opposite to the hard standings in addition to the one by the recycle facilities. There is a facilities building with a shower, charge but a clear timer, toilet and washhand basin. A decent information room contains a sink, washing machine and drier, clear charges which were very reasonable, a bench to work at with a chair, free WiFi which was very good and fast, laminated map of walks from the site to borrow, very nice touch. As we were both poorly for our visit we only managed a walk into the village on our last day. Footpath all the way, large play area, lovely millennium green with footpaths leading from it, pub, shop and post office plus the East Anglia Railway Museum which has a cafe and trains that run on the branch line to Sudbury and over the viaduct to Manningtree for connections to the main lines. Matt and Jenni were friendly chatty and helpful without being intrusive. We will return to explore the area properly.
