The site now has 5 widely spaced H/S pitches, each with their own tap and waste water drain, however they are quite sloping, and it may be best pitching up facing the road, giving the best views too. Although only one field's distance from the main road we didn't find that there was excessive road noise. The access is a typical farm drive which could well be missed if the instructions given are not closely followed. The CEP is behind the farmhouse so is a fair distance from the pitches. There are a couple of footpaths from the farm and the drive itself make a decent dog walk. As well as being close the the Lake District and Kendal, with it's shops and supermarkets, there are other interesting places to visit including Levens Hall, Holker Hall, and Sizergh Castle (NT). At £15 pn we thought this good value, and will use the site again.
Typical farm CL is a central spot
Stayed for 5 nights end August 2015 Straightforward farm CL. Had everything we needed. Great location, not far from the M6 and just outside Kendal - easy access to lakes, nice setting, lovely nearby farm shops etc. Only negative is that it is right by a main road so there is some traffic noise - but then we chose the site because it was right by the main road so no suprise, but be aware if you plan to sit out around the caravan you will hear the road but you can't see it. We are very noise intolerant though so many people won't even notice. A previous reviewer commented on animal smells - its a farm, yes you are surrounded by sheep but if you don't like farms then don't stay on one! For us we like having the livestock around and enjoyed watching the sheep. We will use it as a stop over again.
Will be going back
Used this site a couple of times in 2013, intended going back last year but illness prevented this. Will be going this year, not far from motorway for an overnight stop or central for southern lakes. Basic but everything you need and some great views..

A place to stay to visit the Lakes
We stayed hear July 2014. This site is a working sheep farm and some days there are Animal smells . The owners are friendly and will help with information if you ask. It is a good site for the lakes and towns, not far from anywhere quite central. You will need levelling blocks. Views over the distant hills are worth mentioning. Please note when you come home from Kendal or Windermere always take the sign for SHENSTONE follow this to get you back to the site, miss it and it is quite a drive before you are able to get back (we did). We feel this site is ok for somewhere to stay to explore the Lake District no more.

Close to Kendal and the Lakes
Stopped here for 2 nights on way to Scotland. Owner was out on arrival but we pitched up no problem as pre-booked. Leveling blocks needed. Nice views over the distant hills the other side of the main road which was far enough away down hill and not to noisy. Only a short drive to Kendal and handy for the lakes. Friendly owner who gave info on local area.
Top Site
We spend several days at this pleasant site last year.Received a very warm welcome and ideal as a base to explore the lakes. This is a working farm and enjoyed watching the hay making. Access is good and although the field was a bit soggy due to a previous wet spell we had no problems. We will certainly visit again should we find ourselves in the area again. Many Thanks.
Pleasant little site
