Perfect little spot

Booked for 2 nights over a May weekend and we were the only people here. Grassy area beside the village hall with plenty of space plus a community herb garden. Only noise you will hear are tractors, birdsong and the river. The adjacent B road was amazingly quiet, more like a country lane. Easy walk to the distillery and local walks beyond - we did one of the smugglers trails. Facilities are good. Separate mens and womens showers and toilets with key code access. No lock on the shower room door though as there are two showers with communal drying/dressing area. Just watch out if you add another 20p while mid shower as water then blasts a brief amount of scalding water! Recommend the recently opened Croft Inn a 3 minute drive away for superb Thai food in the evening. Different menu at lunchtimes. They welcome dogs in the bar area too. Best to book as word is getting around about how good it is. There is currently no rubbish disposal on site apart from recycling but Meg is working hard to sort this out with the council. There is a public bin not too far away that can be used.

Very nice peaceful location

Stayed here for 2 nights with our motorhome. Lovely place, very quiet and not far from The Glenlivet distillery. Plenty of good walks in the area. The site is off grid with no electric hook up, but has all other facilities with toilets and showers. Megan was very helpful and very welcoming. Definitely worth a visit

Great welcome and well looked after site

Returning from the north coast we were delighted with our find of Glenlivet Village Hall site. Helen was charming when we called to book just an hour or so before our arrival and extremely welcoming on our arrival. We really felt that she would have gone out of her way to help us should we have needed anything. We had stayed in a number of places over a two week period and whilst this site had limited facilities, what it did have were exceptionally clean (shower/loo block), really pretty area and very peaceful location and great value for money. We would definitely enjoy going back and really appreciated the friendliness of the site and that helen was there to make sure we were comfortable. So nice. Lucky to find such a great location that was well cared for by people that obviously care. Thank you.

An excellent CL

The delights of Glenlivet and the surrounding area are well known.Sadly, the delights of this CL appear to be very much less well known to our members because the site is somewhat underused. Admittedly, there is no hookup facility but in compensation, there is access to a very good showerblock within the adjoining public hall. The field is huge and sheltered and peaceful with no passing traffic except for farm vehicles . The welcome from Helen, the attendant, is genuinely warm. Please go. You will be glad you did and should I be wrong, the distillery where you can drown your sorrows is within walking distance.

Great CL

Just been to this gem of a cl in such a beautiful area. Brilliant location for scenic walks, visits to local towns/villages, not to mention visits to the many great malt whisky distilleries in the area (also Walkers Shortbread factory shop in Aberlour with great products and low prices) We spotted the site online in an area we intended to visit, on our way back down from Orkney. Although it requested a 3-day email to confirm a booking, we were travelling the next day, so emailed and decided to risk just turning up. As it was a morning arrival we could move elsewhere if no space. We arrived and found 3 units on site, 2 were leaving the following day, so decided to set up. We met Helen later that first evening (she visits the site daily) who was most understanding, very pleasant and very helpful as regards information about the area etc. Unfortunately our gas ran out on the second day which we only discovered at around 5.00pm. Facing an uncertain 20+ mile journey for new gas, we decided to decamp, as we were only going 35 miles to our next cl (at Fisherford) which could take us a day early. (memo to self and others - check gas level more often for cl's without electric !) Another memo to self - visit again and for longer this great cl at Glenlivet

Simple and peaceful, just the way a CL should be!

Spent only one night this time but will definitely return. The CL is at the side of the prettiest village hall ever seen, with lots of flowers, a herb garden - and immaculate loos and showers (20p gives plenty of time for one shower). The field was a wee bit soggy in the centre but the edges were fine. I saw a red squirrel in the adjoining wood. Excellent attention from the CL manager.

Great site

We have just stayed here for 5 nights in some very rainy weather but although the field got very wet at times it drained quickly and we had no problems getting on of off site. The scenery is lovely and we had a great holiday despite the rain, we particularly liked Glenmore Forest. Dufftown had a good range of shops for the basics. The site benefits from having toilets and showers in the public hall. The showers cost 20p per 3 minutes or £1 gets you half an hour. Every day during August is tea in the park where cakes, soup and a choice of main meals is available from 11:00 to 4:30 along with lots of lovely products from local crafts people.

Glenlivet

apart from the farmer at the top of the hill going past with his tractor from time to time, this is one of the quietest sites ever. In a valley just past the community centre you have a field surrounded by woods, tap, shower, toilets etc. at the community centre - who do food and cakes and tombola etc. throughout August. A delightful spot - we stayed 3 nights and used it as a base to got to highland games, castles and distilleries. The dog enjoyed it too lots of room to chase sticks without disturbing anyone.

Mostly peaceful with good facilities

For a CL this site is unusual as it has showers and toilet in the village hall that can be used. You are generally left alone except for a friendly visit for payment to be taken and arrangements to be made for using the hall key. The site is quite bumpy but ok and there is plenty of space. It is very peaceful except in the football season when there is training on the playing field and the odd stray ball can wing it's way towards or under your caravan if you park too near the hall! Very good access for visiting Aviemore & excellent dog walks on the marked paths opposite the site.
