Practical base for East Yorkshire

I chose the CL at Gatehouse Farm because I needed to be in Beverley... without actually being in Beverley. The directions in the book are pretty accurate and the access is good.  Approach roads have no shocks or surprises. The site facilities are good, hookups are well spaced and the "tall" water tap is provided with a helpful crate to permit the filling of an aquaroll without the need for a hose.  The toilet sluice is a bit of a walk... about 250m from the furthest hook up to the disposal point. 'Phone reception for 3 was good and O2 was a bit patchy.  Data was very slow but SMS was quick and 'phone calls were passably good. I didn't try the TV or the radio during my stay - but its flat there (only 6 feet above sea level) to the signal should have no obstructions.             Howard was an amiable host and had lots of helpful advice about local shops, fish and chips, etc. I spent most of my stay in Beverley at the folk festival (June 2015) and its about 15 minutes drive to there on a bad day.  Driffield (10 min north) has practical resources like fuel and a supermarket.  Beverley has a very prosperous feel to it...  a bit too lively for me in the evening (all hen parties and bouncers).  It is architecturally interesting and a bit more sedate during the day. Hornsea is a pretty resort with a nostalgic 50's sort of a feel and there are many pretty little villages dotted around on the Wolds.
