Last weekend I thought this wonderful little CL had closed, no sign up at the entrance, no answer on the landline. I swung by anyway. The house didn't look lived in at the moment and there was no one around. So I went elsewhere.
I noticed today that the phone number has changed to a mobile on this website, so I rang it. Lady answered and confirmed it's all open, but a little wet at the moment, but very green! Her brother lives at the cottage near the road.
So, use the mobile number and don't expect an answer at the farm house!
I'd better get my act together now, as I need to get there tonight! Bring it on, a lovely quiet weekend.
Excellent walking up to the Cherhill monument and to the Black Horse pub via bridleways and footpaths. So glad it's still open.
Great Value
Booked on this site as we were visiting family.
The site is a large field with a swath of grass cut for vans to park on. Level pitch. At £8.00 per night it is a hidden gem. Great value for money
Andrew the owner very nice and friendly.
There is right of way through the field but this added to the experience as we got to meet locals and their dogs who gave us tips on the area.
Got to see Chinooks who seemed to be on exercise, one of them looked as if it was about 10ft of the ground. Being ex RAF it was a lovely site to see.
The views are beautiful and access to walks on the downs really accessible. We walked up to the Lansdowne Monument and the views from up there are amazing.
Easy access to Avebury and Silbury Hill.
On out last night I thought my niece had arranged a firework display for us to say goodbye. No not really. But a local venue had been hosting, what must have been a wedding some of the fireworks broke into a heart, and the firework display was amazing.
Would certainly use again.

Traditional C l in a beautiful location
What a pleasant welcome we received, despite it being after 8pm.Weagree with all other reviews, we spent a, pleasant 2 days here, excellent value for money. Why can't there be more like this.
A really lovely peaceful site
This place is a little gem, we couldn’t believe that we were the only ones there over the summer bank holiday. The views are great which ever way you’re facing. It’s a very peaceful site, there’s no electric hook up but that didn’t matter, we didn’t need it.
The owners are really friendly people, and didn’t mind us having our family over for a bbq.
We took the dog on some lovely long walks through such pretty countryside, it is just the perfect place to get away from it all, we will be returning again very soon.
I was hoping I could put up some photos of the views as we feel that’s what really makes this site the gem it is.

Rural site 7km from Avebury
This lovely site is at the far end of the farm - away from the A4. The field slopes slightly away from the farm and is entirely grassed. There are views over the downs in all directions looking away from the farm.
We walked from the site each day of the weekend, there is a footpath though the site and shortly beyond the site several path and bridal-ways come together giving different options.
We walked to Avebury in a loop on Saturday, about 15 miles all told so not for everyone, and enjoyed the Stones, Manor house, cafes etc as well we the lovely walk in and out over the downs.
The second day we walked over the downs from the site again but generally away from other people. We encountered a hand ful of people each day.
I'd say this stie will suit people keen to get out onto the downs as well as those who want to drive into and explore Calne, Devizes and of course Avebury.
The site has facilities for rubbish, fresh-water and emptying the necessary...
Its a quiet location though it is possible to hear the road at the front of the farm.
On arrival - turning off the road go past the first house and the various barns to get to the 2nd house just before the field. There was a sign advertising eggs, which we didn't try (it doesn't mention its the farmhouse/reception - but it is...)
The Black Horse Pub is an easy stroll along the road though we didn't try it on our visit.
Find the turning on the A4 just west of Cherhill (only a couple of hundred meters I'd estimate after the end speed restriction sign) , before the
Peace and tranquil near places of historical interest
We loved this peaceful site, enjoying country walks. It has easy access to lots of tourist attractions, pretty villages, charming country pubs and canals. We thoroughly recommend this site.
