Almost but not quite !

A peacefull site in lovely surrounding country. A little more sloping than gentle, levelling blocks required (top 2 pitches reasonably ok). 1 water point & seperate chemical disposal with a hose flush, at the top of the slope, (uphill with the toilet & down hill with full water barrels !) Television reception was quite good but when raining, nothing at all !? I strongly suggest that this site only be approached via Mockbeggar Lane, turn left at the end & branch right at the signpost to Furzehill follow the road & keep a sharp eye out for sight sign which is very low down on the right hand side. The owners were very amiable & we had a great time especially as my good lady loves horses but I do not think we will be going back, at our age flat pitches are much more preferable !!

Basic CL in lovely area

This is a well spaced but basic CL with easy access and set in a beautiful locality. We didn't see the owner until near the end of our 6 night visit , which is fine with us but maybe not if you like to see the owner at arrival etc.. Easy access to the heathland for miles of dog walking from site and it is lovely to see the deer, donkeys and horses grazing along the roadsides and wandering as they liked ( definitely priority over vehicles!) Well located to visit the area either inland or to the sea and plenty to keep us occupied for the week and the local farm shop has a tearoom and sells good meat and provisions for topping up supplies The only downside for us was that even though the road that runs behind the pitches looked narrow and quiet there was quite a bit of activity and noise from cars , joggers and horse riders. We do prefer to be on quiet sites where you can relax and feel away from the hustle and bustle so appreciate that others may not be so aware or disturbed but this would put us off returning..

Super CL

Just had a lovely 5 night stay at this CL. Basic but all you need, EHU and water. All on grass but well mowed. Handy for visiting lots of places good for walking, although dare I say a bit too hot for the dog whilst we were there, found some shady wooded walks though. Owners very informative but not intrusive. Had meals out at High Corner and Roysl Oak at Fritham can recommend. Ponies and Deer in abundance just outside the site. Good farm shop within walking distance. Just watch you don't miss the entrance as we did! Would love to return Autumn time as the scenery would be stunning.

Lovely area

The CL is smaller than some we have stayed in but we had plenty of room and a nice view. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and had some lovely produce in an honesty box. The owner showed us a stunning 10m walk across the New Forest to Flitham and back with a lovely pub lunch at the Royal Oak. Had a lovely bike ride and Hockley Farm shop down the Rd did lovely food. Would happily stay here again when next in the area

Tranquil Weekend

This was only our second CC CL we have stayed at and we were not disappointed.  It was a lovely summer sunny weekend and the site gave us the opportunity to have a really quiet time.  It was an ideal site for a quick break and the ability to walk our two terriers in the New Forest was brilliant.  The site slopes slightly and blocks were needed.  I also felt it would be tricky too if it had been wet at all.  The water tap is at the top of the field along with the waste water disposal.  The separate waste bins for recycling are located at the entrance gate.  Overall this was a neat tidy site overlooking another field and woods with apple trees along one edge. We bought some lovely spice chilli from Richard on one of our walks.  We will be back for more dog walking and to the pubs next time!Happy

Not much fun in wet weather

A very quiet site, but unless you can pitch close to the top of the slope this is a very muddy, damp site. Setting up required levelling blocks and due to several days of rain the ground became very soft, requiring regular attention to the stabiliser legs. If you don't have a 4x4 you may also find it difficult to get any sort of grip; our 4x4 struggled to tow the 'van out. Otherwise a very peaceful site, and in better weather a good place for walks and to see the beauty of the New Forest. We didn't see the owner until the end of our stay, and had to walk some distance up the road to the house to pay for the pitch. Finally, this site has very poor TV reception and (with Vodafone) no mobile signal; this may be a benefit to some!

Little gem

Our first experience of a CC Cl site. Lovely location, beautifully kept with lovely mown field. Just an over night stay but would have been more than happy to stay for longer.

Splendid isolation

First week in May 2015. Peaceful beyond words, nature all around. Sheltered during the gales last week. Lovely farm shop nearby. Deer wandered past while we set up. Basic facilities but this was our first ever trip and that's what we wanted. Had 1.5 acres to ourselves. Will be back again and explore more of the New Forest on our doorstep.

Beautiful, peaceful and certainly restful.

Spent a fabulous week last summer 2014, sorry it's a bit late, during the school holidays. The location is fantastic, right on the edge of the new forest and the only sound you'll hear are the afore mentioned ponies and donkeys, big and little kids alike will love them. Apart from the beautiful countryside, nothing is on your doorstep here, so unless you are prepared to walk or drive a couple of miles to the nearest pub, this site won't be for you; but for those who just love to escape to the country you'll be in heaven. We cycled all around the forest and drove to Beaulieu and the other coastal attractions, though once back at the site you might just be tempted to give up the car as everywhere worth visiting is so busy, unless you set off early. Would highly recommend this site and will definitely return.

A great CL

Have just returned from three nights at this peaceful CL. We were met by Richard and given helpful advice where to position the van and also local walks. We had two sunny days and did some great walks on the forest. The CL is within the forest but the best walks are a few hundred yards away. We hope to return to this great CL.
