Ease of arrival/welcome

Autumnal stay in Hartland

We have just returned from a very wet outing to the Torridge region of Devon, where we stayed 4 nights at Fosfelle pitches. The directions in the CAMC book are spot on and we arrived in late afternoon to be welcomed by the hosts. Entrance to the field is via a gate and down short track into a dip. On arrival there were 3 other units parked up so we chose one of the remaining pitches. I initially was slightly perturbed as there wasn’t much of a view apart from the Alpacas and Donkeys, very sweet. But as the wind and rain picked up during our stay, we were very grateful for the positioning of the pitches as we were protected by the buffering of strong winds. We didn’t use the hobbit huts. There is a an easy walk, all be it along the road, into Hartland which has three pubs and a couple of general stores. We found the site well located for visiting local attractions and places Bude, Clovelly, Westward Ho! in the MoHo and Hartland Point, Hartland Quay on our bikes. As stated in previous reviews, the owners have recently taken over and requested feedback to help improve the site and stay for visitors. Our only comment was that although the avenue of Hydrangeas was very pretty, they did encroach into the drive. Apparently the owners have already contracted someone to tame the vegetation. Finally, as most CLs we have visited are in rural locations and often on farms, we fully expect a gate to be negotiated onto the camping field and welcome the additional deterrent it provides.
