Disappointed

Well, after reading previous reviews we booked a week here. On arrival the signage and entrance look very tired (driving by a fully loaded skip doesn't make a good impression). The owner very briefly said hello then left us to it, leaving the site himself to go away for a few days. The field was nice and tidy and the grass freshly mowed. Our first problem was when we wanted toast and tea for breakfast on our first morning and tripped the electrics! Take note future visitors, electricity on this site is just 10 amp. I must admit it states this fact in the site's blurb so our fault for not reading through fully. Anyway, it was easy to reset thankfully as the cover was almost hanging off the electric box! The information hut is very tired, as is the information within. Interestingly, the Caravan Club certificate is on full view, clearly stating that the site is registered for 5 pitches. Why then were there 7 pitches in use!!! These weren't just turn up on the off chance visitors, they had all booked and that's our main gripe. Anyway, after a couple of days of barking dogs and road noise ... yes, it's beside a busy road ... we decided to call it a day and head home early!! Sorry, this one's most definitely not for us!

A nice site with excellent dog walking from the door.

This site is immaculately kept, however one or two aspects of it are showing signs that they need refreshing. Truly excellent dog walking is available right from your door with loads of walks all detailed on the map that is provided in the information hut. We were fortunate that when we visited in March 2020 there wasn't any stock in any of the surrounding fields so our boys were able to have a good run and as the soil is evidently well draining, there was next to no mud. As for my earlier comment about the need to refresh a few things, the information hut could do with a lick of paint and the inside of it and the information display are all a bit tired. The worst point though is the location of the drinking water tap. If visiting in a motorhome/campervan then it can be a bit touch and go getting close enough to the tap to fill the on board tanks when the grass is wet and the ground is soft.

Bliss

Arrived for a couple of nights. A lovely tranquil site with an 'information hut' with lots of leaflets for walks in the local area. Peaceful and a great location for visiting the various air bases, Lincoln and beyond. A well maintained site that is a pleasure to visit.

What Peace, What Views, What Walks

My last review of this lovely CL related to a fantastic stay in July 2018. Well we went back a couple of weeks ago intending to stay 3 days, we loved it so much we stayed 10 days. The site is just as it was the last time that is it is a wonderful site perfect for walking the Lincolnshire Wolds and enjoying peace quiet scenery and wildlife. With Buzzards mewing and soaring overhead as Long-tailed tits flit back and forth looking at their reflections in the car windows. There is one big improvement though and that is the entrance which is wider proving no worries getting in and out. And our hosts well they were perfect hosts checking we were OK for everything, but otherwise letting us relax and enjoy the paradise which is Estate Office CL.

An Estate of Peace

This CL is our idea of heaven, Minus points are very few; Take care negotiating the final entrance to the site itself. Its worth having someone watch the back of long caravans as you turn in. Now the plus points; Far away from the madding crowds. Surrounded by lovely scenery with fabulous walking country everywhere. A short walk to an ice cream and coffee shop (Fantastic Iced Cream) Well drained large site with plenty of shade if required in hot weather. Lovely owners. Wildlife abounds, at night the Little Owls call to each other from surrounding trees and buildings. Buzzard soaring above the site. Small bird species everywhere. Shops a very short drive away in the lovely historic market town of Louth. Overall its a BRILLIANT CL with lots of places to explore near and a little further. PLEASE DON'T TELL ANYONE, Oh no its to late

The "Secret Garden" of CL sites

Maybe it was because we were the only vans there at first but when you arrive at this site it really does feel just a little bit like you've stepped into a secret garden. Access is easy though the new format C&MC signs do little to help spot the turning and we overshot it by a few yards. Facilities are basic but functional and the owner has gone to a lot of trouble to provide a useful information hut complete with books to borrow. There's a little bit of traffic noise during rush hour but nothing serious even for a light sleeper like me. As usual I've created a short video which can describe the site far better than I can feel free to view it here. https://youtu.be/On-qdMEtZCQ

Oh what a beauty!

What a wonderful CL. Peace and quite. Well maintained. Great walking over the wolds with well marked footpaths from the site. Louth has some lovely shops and restaurants. Try 'The Ranch' restaurant and Hubbard Hills for a days picnic and splash in the stream. We would certainly would recommend this site!

Quiet and spacious site

This is a lovely sheltered site. Well drained with 2 hard standing pitches. There are no toilets or showers. The electric hook-up points are in the middle of the field and you are permitted to pitch anywhere. Owner not around but plenty of information on the site on how to pay and contact them. The chemical disposal area could do with a sort out, it gets very muddy! Also some of the site information in the Information Hut is from 2015, faded and difficult to read. In the hut there are numerous very good cycle and walking leaflets which can be followed from the camp site. Louth is only 2 miles way. We would stay again, it is a very relaxing site.

Well worth a visit

We had occasion to spend an extended time on site and what a pleasure it was. The site itself is easy to get into and there is plenty of space to manoeuvre, level grass area which is well maintained and the grass is cut regularly. electric points are well within reach of each pitch and greywater and waste is in the corner away from all the pitches. The site is within easy reach of Louth and only a short drive from other areas of interest including Lincoln town centre. We met the owner Mr Dobson several times and he was always very pleasant and talkative, nothing was too much bother and he would help out if you had any difficulty whatsoever.  I would certainly recommend this site if you are planning to visit this area of the country, you will not be disappointed.

Wolds walking visit

Nice clean well maintained site with information shed which was useful for local knowledge.  The CL was easy to find with good access, pitching up was a breeze with lots of space to manoeuvre. The site is sheltered with trees and hedges but beware of low flying geese which to my surprise liked to roost in the pine tree. A CL which is central to  superb walks and a base to explore the Lincolnshire Wolds.
