Amazingly quiet site great nature and bird watching-- fab hot showers and well cared for site with helpful welcoming smiling staff and staff dogs! boats and people all welcome
village community shop.. village walks
campsite was discreetly hidden-- field was bumpy because of the wet winter
we have had we had glorious sunshine impressed with staff attention to detail in boat yard and Jess'icecream and frozen lattes horse box
so close to the water for sailing kayaking etc or hiring a motor boat-- broad walks and village walks loads of places to see- cycling in lanes so quiet liek we saw no cars in some lanes
we were able to buy broads licences and sail our dinghy and kayaks but be warned many people who rent motor boats do not have a clue about rules of the road and if you are tacking it is a sailing challenge and remember to calculate the tides and check the wind direction- it changes in and out of the reeds and with the broads bends-- we loved it! further by the broad walks rather than the water due to the ins and outs of the staithes
lots of people to talk to and dogs seemed to love walking alongside the broads THANK YOU
Well girls if you want to meet a chap this is the place for you!. You'll find them in the Ladies nicking the toilet paper as theirs had run out. This despite the door code as it had been propped open! Therefore one of our dispensers ran out too, and I'd bet the other did as well before the contract cleaner came on a Tuesday, which is not often enough for a CL and busy yacht basin. The waste bin was overflowing when I arrived on Friday! There was also a blocked toilet but these things happen. Probably a desperate call for attention from a lonely loo. But more seriously, it is such a shame that a CL in such a beautiful interesting area should be spoilt by such low standards of care.
We loved our stay here, it was peaceful, abundant with nature and wildlife, central to wherever we wanted to go, close to the river/dyke, and the owners were kind and helpful. There are no electrics on this site, but what was really helpful was the use of the clean and modern shower and toilets.
The water, bins, emptying point and toilet facilities were a fair walk, notably further than what you may ordinarily expect on a CL. This wasn't a problem for us, but for anyone with mobility challenges this may need to be a consideration, particularly with bumpy ground to negotiate crossing the caravan site. Again, the ground wasn't a problem for us but if anyone prefers pristine lawns or hardstanding then this is something you may wish to consider.
We loved it here, and the surrounding area, and we had a fab week! Thank you!!
Just stayed for four nights. Fantastic location for riverside walks, bird watching and peace and quiet. Warm welcome and good service’s. Field a bit bumpy but flat.
We have been coming here for many years but our last visit was a disappointment.
The field had not been mowed for ages and they have a mole problem causing very uneven and soft ground in some areas, so much so that you're almost guaranteed to get bogged down. We parked as close to the entrance gate as possible in case it rained, luckily it didn't.
One van on site was already stuck, the owner was going to pull him out on his departure day.
Unless they do something about the field I cannot see them getting 5 units in without at least 3 getting stuck. It now seems neglected which is a shame.
Its in a lovely area with beautiful walks and views. If they tend to the field then we shall visit again as we used to.
Lovely CL next to the boatyard at the gateway to the broads. Boats can be hired. There is no ehu which wouldn't normally be a problem for us. However our fridge failed on gas which we noticed late Saturday afternoon. They very kindly allowed us to park in the yard to allow us access to electric. They wouldn't take payment but said we could leave a donation. We decided to leave a day early forfeiting one nights fee to cover any electric we used.
There is a pub and shop both run by the local community about 5 mins walk away.
Lovely setting, would highly recommend.
Fantastic views across The Broadland Scene. We hired a half decker sailing yacht for a day. An immaculate boat with great sailing pedigree. Really friendly, helpful folk. The field was at low level with fairly long grass. Not sure what it would be like after a lot of rain.
We only stayed the one night but have a solar panel so the fact there was no hook-up wasn't a problem. Water & waste at the boat yard. Nice local pub & small shop in the village an easy walk. Nice views on the Broads. If in the area would stay again.
Great place to stay. Part of an active boatyard specialising in sailing yacht hire. Free public slipway if you take a dinghy with you. Field can be soft after heavy rain. Great walks. Nice village community pub in easy walking distance. Friendly welcome
