My wife and I stayed on this delightful, small, quiet family run farm for five nights in July. It consists of a field, with electric, water, waste disposal, which in all fairness is all we need or want. We prefer to stay on CL sites to get away from the formality and rule driven club sites.
The family could not have more welcoming, along with the two huge deer hounds, large but very friendly though. The countryside here is simply superb. Strangely, the club has another CL literally down the same lane within 500 yards or so, do not make the same mistake as we did and initially turn up at the wrong one! That site was more formal and certainly we would prefer where we stayed.
Would recommend staying here, especially if you like the quiet life, the approach lane is narrow in places but not a real problem.
This is a basic site, set in a field. It's quite uneven in places.
I'm not sure what the 'great facilities' are in previous reviews, but this is very basic, it has dustbins and a disposal point.
A good overnight stop, or for one or two days to visit nearby Bovey Tracy and the East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve which is a lovely place to visit.
We stayed here in October and although field was wet there was a hard standing near the gate which was ideal . We had a lovely welcome from the family ,good views, electric and water was near there was a good tv signal. Can walk into Bovey Tracey from site not too far and there is a car park in Bovey suitable for campers, Bovey is lovely and make a visit to the jolly Roger and heritage museum. Site is near to canonteign falls which were spectacular. Loved this site, do not get confused with east dunley .
We stayed on dunley in September and could not wish for a nicer place to stay.
We had a friendly welcome , and the views were great what more could anyone want .
What a smashing stay, the owners were so interested and helpfull, even got to see their tractor collection, probably the best reception we've ever had, even came to open the gate for us on arrival, a working farm with various animals, very interesting, to see the geese and chickens, even the farm dogs were friendly, easy access to most of Devon, approach road very narrow but fairly straight and very lightly used, we had no problem, arriving or departing with the caravan on.
We will certainly be returning to this delightful site
Chris and Andrew Sparkes
just had a 5 night stay with our grandson and 2 dogs found owners very welcoming and genuine
interest in our stay . site very well kept and although this is a proper working farm we found this very interesting .we found location good for getting around as main a38 only a few minutes drive away leading to many different places ,no problem with access even though the road to site was narrow in some part it was straight enough to see some passing places also fresh eggs from farm on sale
Stayed with husband, daughter and granddaughter. Excellent site loads of space and great facilities.
Very warm welcome from owner, will definitely return.
Just back from a very enjoyable seven night stay in our caravan at this very peaceful CL with Mutley our jack russell.
A well maintained cl with 5 taps and 2 sets of 4 electric points dotted around the site.
It was easy to find with only the last few hundred yards of road being narrow, this did not prove to be any problem.
There is plenty of wildlife around on site, with many wild birds and bird song, we spotted a woodpecker and were visited by a grey squirrel on one occasion, with the odd farm dog passing through.
Lovely views from the site and friendly owners.
You do need transport to get around but 5 miles in one direction and your on Dartmoor and a little more in the opposite direction and your at the coast.
At £9 a night its well worth a visit.
Stayed in February 2012.
LocalPlacesOfInterest: Single lane approach from Chudleigh Knighton (two good pubs The Anchor/ The Claycutters). Good access to site if somewaht narrow approach.
Well situated between Bovey Tracey and Chudleigh, but it does mean you need some 'transport'. (We used our fold up bikes).
Site: OAY; Farm site; 3 'HS'; EHU; water; waste disposal; fresh eggs on sale. Lovely views and very peaceful.
Well worth another visit.
