A 5th Wheel adventure!
This fantastic site was peaceful, amazing views and allows access to the most spectacular scenery for coast and mountains. We stayed here for 4 nights in late January 2019. It snowed hard before and during our stay and whilst access for our 5th wheel was interesting, slow and sure ensured a safe arrival. Access is a single track undulating road but the snow plow came past mid morning each day to keep the road open.
The pitches are a little tight but we only had 1 night shared with a motorhome but the rest of the time we had peace and quiet all to ourselves. Comments about the dog are unfounded and as a typical Collie I though it was extremely endearing and friendly. The sheep came for a look over the fence and the chickens proved a great source of entertainment.
Site water froze overnight but Mr Walker Smith was only too happy to allow me access to his garage and nothing was too much trouble. Bins are available and the EHU's conveniently located. There is a lot of grass and fortunately our 4x4 truck made it easy to get off. Again it would be a bit tight if all pitches had been occupied but off peak was easy. Exiting this CL is a fairly steep ramp which I was happy to clear of lying snow and grit (conveniently provided by the excellent local authority in a pile opposite this site) to make our departure easy.
From this site we drove up to John O Groats, Cape Wrath, Dunrobin Castle, Thurso, Dunnet Head, Lairg, Loch Erriboll…..so much to see and all so beautiful locally.
As mentioned previously cheapest fuel and supermarket at ASDA Tain a 10 mile return trip. To cap it all Mrs Walker Smith provided us with 6 fresh eggs and a superb cake upon departure which was an unexpected but delicious gift. We will definitely be back and this is a really great ALL Year CL.
