Drake House Farm - 5 star CL

Just returned from a 3 night stay in Lancashire. In fact the MH engine is still hot. We have returned to Sussex having spent 3 nights at this little oasis. This CL has easy access (so long as care is taken in West Bradford village), five hardstanding pitches in a small meadow, each with individual water taps and EHU. It was so peaceful and relaxing with views over the Ribble valley toward Pendle Hill. The site has a basic but clean, shower and toilet area. This doubles up as an info centre too. A nice touch was a whiteboard where one could write messages to other caravanners pointing out recommendations for places to visit/eat. The owner was a joy to deal with and a very interesting person, with quite an unusual profession ;-) There are lots of walks from the site, access to Grindleton fell is basically straight up the lane and continue along the bridleway. The town of Clitheroe is a short walk along the river Ribble. Take the circular drive around Pendle...visit Downham (where they filmed "Whistle down the wind" - starring the young Haley Mills), then Barley, where you can eat in the Pendle Inn (dog friendly) or if you are feeling energetic walk up Pendle. Return via Newchurch and Sabden over the Nick o' Pendle. Stunning scenery. On a wet day (or even dry) a visit to Queens Street Mill is an unforgettable experience...I will try and add a link here for info:- http://www.aboutbritain.com/QueenStreetMillandTextileMuseum.htm I could not recomment a stay here highly enough.
