Great 'basic' site from the old school

As a previous reviewer said, this is a superb site for those who enjoy off grid, away from the crowds and basic facilities. Water, bins, loo emptying provided. Everything else, provide yourself! That is great in our eyes and more like this would be lovely.

Coombe Quarry

Really quiet, relaxed CL with beautiful countryside and wonderful walks from the site - two good pubs within walking distance. Robert was very welcoming and helpful - thanks.

More than adequate.

The previous reviews pretty much sum this site up. I wish there were more on the network just like this, i.e without all the frills. This site is in an orchard like setting, with glimpses of spectacular sunsets seen through the trees. A minor road runs alongside but this was not a major intrusion. we received a warm welcome and then were left on our own to select a pitch of our choosing. The grass had been cut and the trees were laden with mistletoe. The neighboring villages are a delight to wander around. Be sure to visit St Mary's church in Lydford and follow the footpath along the river and into the apple orchards. Approach the site entrance slowly and carefully, it's not very well marked. If like us you over shoot, don't worry, there's a triangular turning point a little further on.

Great CL

This is a great CL and we found the owner to be friendly and helpful. The grass during our visit was short and tidy. It is a sheltered site but some pitches had long exposure to the sun between the trees, which we really enjoyed. We walked to the nearby village which had a pub. It is really good value and worth looking at if you are staying in the area or just passing through as we were. Not too far from Glastonbury.

Great stop over

We used Coombe Quarry for a 1 night stop over en route to Cornwall and it was ideal. Small enclosed setting but friendly welcome and good value.

At a fiver a night you can't get better than that for value

We stayed here for a week in Sept 14. The site is quite small and just big enough for 5 vans if pitched considerately. On out visit the grass was quite long and needed a cut as it was 6-9 inches in length, this was not too much of a problem as it tended to flatten after a while. If you like to walk / hike there is a public footpath that runs past outside the CL, you can make a good circular walk on public footpaths from the site returning in the opposite direction. Worth a mention is that the toilet emptying is some distance (125 yards ) down the road its a fair distance carrying a FULL cassette, however you can drive down. This CL charges just £5 pn (Sept 14) and is terrific value for money just don't expect it to be manicured grass and perfect its not .......its a bargain basement basic CL
