Ease of arrival/welcome

Good location, some issues

Things we liked Friendly, helpful owners Very good communication prior to arrival Lots of local information provided Plenty to do in the area Walking straight from the site. Lovely outlook from all pitches Sunny pitches for most of the day, with shade in to the evening. Pitch 1 gets the sun for the longest. Pitches are pretty level side to side but do drop away slightly towards the front. Nothing a couple of blocks don’t help with though. Large pitches with plenty of room for caravan, awning and vehicle. Fully serviced pitches with all services on one bollard. Pretty decent Wi-Fi, about 22mb (did slow a bit in the evenings when everyone was using it but still usable) Red Kites and plenty of other wildlife Recycling and food scraps bin Not so keen on The constant noise from the M40. It did lesson slightly with a change of wind direction but was still audible at all times night and day. There were a couple of nights when it sounded like we were pitched by a motorbike race track! The small amount of separation area between pitches 2-5. If you have no awning, you will feel very overlooked by your neighbour. The light on the bollards was quite bright and shone into the rear bedroom. (This may not bother others but we prefer sites with no lighting). The trek to the chemical disposal (though the wheel barrow did help) The horse side of the business made the site much busier than you would expect a CL to be, with horses and walkers coming past the site most days. There is a field that is used for camping by those staying with their horses, as well as a dedicated hard standing above the site. Day riders park on the field below the CL, though there was one day when some misunderstood the instructions and parked directly in front of the pitches. Ted did come by and apologise for this. The horse flies, honestly they were HUGE (We know this is not the sites fault, but have mentioned it as some people are allergic to their bites). Overall this is nice site but not one we will visit again.

Many thanks for your review.  I’m pleased you liked the view, the wildlife and the pitches.

With regards to the lighting on the bollard, Each Bollard has a switch for the light (so you can switch them off) but if the switch is left in the on position the bollard light will come on at dusk and switch off at first light.  The bulb is eco-friendly / very low wattage LED and fitted as standard (ie the same as any other site bollard).  You would be welcome to switch them off, or come and ask us how, we are always around and only a phone or text away.

Thank you.  Just to be clear, the lights are not like search lights and certainly don't ruin the night sky, but we live in a village with no street lights so are used to darkness.  It never even occurred to us that they could be turned off.  We would have come and asked if we'd realised.  At least others will know they can do this if needed now.  smile
