Have just returned from a fantastic 5 night stay at Charlton Manor. The site is very peaceful and relaxing with birdsong being the only sound, except for the odd tractor coming and going. Alma and the family are very welcoming and helpful, as are the residents of the village of Charlton St Peter. The church and information board outside are worth visiting/reading. There are great walks directly from the site. We (my dog and I) walked the droves up onto Salisbury Plain as well as the Byways and footpaths to neighbouring villages. We were spoilt with sights of flora and fauna during our stay - red kites circling each morning, buzzards soaring, deer in the field in front of the van, the resident barn owl, innumerable small bird species, pheasants, rabbits, hares, orchids, masses of blue cranesbill beside the footpaths and if you looked carefully several species of orchids. We will certainly be returning - a great CL for recharging one's batteries.
