A haven of tranquility and calm

We have just come back from 2 of the most relaxing nights at a site we have had. The views from the field are spectacular and a total joy watching the Red Kites and Buzzards overhead. We walked with our dog from the site along the Nene Way to Warmington Services and caught the bus to Oundle. We spent a lovely few hours looking round Oundle and enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee, bacon roll for hubby and cake for me at Beans. As we had the dog we did have to sit outside this was not a problem as others were out side too on the seats. We then caught the bus back to Warmington had an explore there then walked the Nene way back to the site. We went to the Falcon Inn with the dog in the Tap bar and we both enjoyed delicious open sandwiches before an explore of Fotheringhay. We did not have the opportunity to sample the main meals (next time). The history here is wonderful and the site is next to the old castle mound. Its worth a visit to the church to read all about Richard III and Mary Queen of Scots. We are a self contained unit so this site was not a problem for us. There is water and Chemical disposal point but as we were only there 2 nights we only used the water and emptied out the toilet at home. We also took our rubbish home as we had not much with us, there are recycling boxes there though. For us we found the site easily, the ground was fairly level a bit damp but again this did not cause us any problems. The Nene Way goes through the site which was a big hit with our dog as a lovely walk on the door step. John the owner was very friendly and contactable if any problems although we had none. If you want off grid tranquility this is the place although I can see it being busy in the summer months.
