Great for cycling

With the small October heatwave we have just had, we decided to go away for a few nights, but we didn't want to venture too far from home. Having driven through this area many times over the years we weren't disappointed with our choice of CL. Prior to our arrival Helen emailed the gate code for entry. The two hardstandings nearest the entry gate were free so we chose the one nearest to the taps. Fortunately our electric cable just reached the electricity supply, but extension cables are available in the outbuildings for use if required. As we choose to use our bikes to get around once parked up, we were pretty spoilt with great cycling. National Cycle Route 15 on the Grantham Canal is less than a mile from the site - which in turn leads on towards NCR 64. We cycled around the immediate vicinity on the day of our arrival and then on the following two days we ventured to Woolsthorpe Manor - birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton - and Melton Mowbray. Belvoir Castle and Harlaxton Manor are also both within easy cycling distance. We both have e-bikes which helped with the amount of hills we encountered. It had been our intention to cycle to Belvoir Castle on the last day there, but unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to unforeseen circumstances at home, but we will hopefully be back in the not too distant future. Having hardstandings is a bonus as grass pitches and motorhomes don't always go together - especially after rain. One small grumble, it would have been nice had the grass been cut, but that's only a minor issue. Just for information - unfortunately the mobile phone reception for this area is pretty poor - so if you need internet access for anything you just have to bide your time and hope you manage to pick up a good signal.
