What a find

We needed a local site near Grantham to visit my son but hard standings are a must at this time of year so we were very pleased to see Neil & Helen have put them in. It was a lovely site very quiet but close to Grantham and a nice walk down the canal towpath to the local pub. The pork pie from the Barrowby butchers was delicious and we look forward to trying more of their produce on our next visit.

Early Spring Visit

This is a fine quiet CL with 5 Hardstanding pitches and is easily accessed, being only 1 mile from the A52 and a couple from the A1. There are numerous walks that can be made from the site to some very interesting villages. For the cyclist the tow path of the Grantham Canal is close by and there are also a good number of bridleways and a disused railway line near for the off road enthusiasts. There are a few N/T properties within easy driving distance, Belton House and Woolsthorpe Manor, and Belvoir Castle is within walking distance for those who like to stretch their legs. Grantham is close by with an Asda, and a soon to be opened Lidl less than 4 mls from the site. At £10pn this site is a bargain and we will definitely use it again when we are in the area.

Twas good, now even better!

This is a brilliant little site with extremely friendly and very helpful owners. We have stayed there several times. It was always good but now with the extension of the hard surface roadway and more hard standings it is even better. Well done the Smiths!

Shakedown!

Don't laugh, but we only live 8 miles away from here! Why? Well we had had alot of work done to our unit and wanted to test it before a big trip, however we hit good here and enjoyed our stay with walks I did not know exsited. The site supply's extra long elec leads, so you have a free run over placments, but be careful on pitching as you can bottom out on one of the undulating areas, with a little planning you can get yourself a nice spot. All the facilitys are in good order, as we come to expect and the coded gate makes it secure. We would use again, as when you are there you may as well be a hundred miles away from home!

Still lovely!

Delightful CL. Heart of the countryside with lots of space and caring owners. Fresh eggs available! Local walks are easy and wildlife plentiful - lots of hares and game around in August. Will certainly return.

Quiet Site

Just spent ten days on this CL. This is a quiet site with easy access from the A52. Several walks close by including along the canal side. On arrival grass was quite long. When the grass was eventually cut it was raining, the grass was not collected & the result was a horrendous mess.

Comment from Community Manager:

Many thanks for your review and we’re pleased you found the site peaceful and quiet. The CL owner has contacted us as she works hard to ensure members have the best possible time on their site and wanted to address your concerns.  When the site is full it’s difficult to mow around the ‘vans and unfortunately in May there had been a lot of rain which also made this difficult. As I’m sure you can imagine if the grass cuttings were collected the pile would be too large as the site is 1.5 acres and as such would smell very unpleasant as the grass fermented, which is why many CL sites do not collect grass cuttings in this way. I hope this helps address your concerns and as you can see from previous reviews the CL owner works really hard to ensure members have the best possible time on their site, welcoming members and making sure they are available if there are ever any concerns. The site is in a beautiful and peaceful countryside setting and there’s lots to do in the surrounding area.

Peaceful and quiet

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Casthorpe House Farm.  This is a quiet and peaceful site surrounded by beautiful countryside.  The area is good for walking and cycling, including a lovely canalside route.  Friendly and helpful owners.  We look forward to returning.

Excellent

What a great CL we were met with a warm welcome, depending on where you pitched you may need two cables to reach the mains but the owner had spare ones available to borrow. Helen was very helpful and told us about the local area the walk along the canal is great and the smoked bacon from the butchers in Barrowby was good. We had a meal at The Chequers Inn at Woolsthorpe which was excellent , watch out for the 7th heaven items on the menu between 6pm and 7pm these are priced at £7.77 great value. Pity it was only a short weekend but we would certainly return to discover more of the surrounding area

A Little Gem

We have just stayed for the weekend 14-16 March. What a little gem of a CL. After calling Helen to book a pitch and to confim we would be able to get on, it was very good for her to welcome us at the gate to help us set up. Lots of walking or cycling trails in the local area. We especialy liked the walk along the canal path to some locks and the friendly pub. Easy access from the A1/A52. Should you wish to stay for a few days or just as a 1 night stop, you will be made very welcome.
